QUOTE It's just a placeholder; the Rimward cover is still in progress. I stand corrected (Adam Jury on the official board). |

The third printing PDF is now available, and some new fiction from Jack Graham: http://www.eclipsephase.com/eclipse-phase-...l-destino-verde

for those of us thinking of securing a physical copy, where would we go to ensure we're getting a 3rd printing?

I imagine PHS will update the product copy at DrivethruRPG when the third edition print version is available.

for those of us thinking of securing a physical copy, where would we go to ensure we're getting a 3rd printing? The third printing has a different ISBN than the first/second printings, so it will be easily distinguishable for distributors and retailers. For customers, you'll be able to tell based on the Posthuman logo on the front cover, the thickness of the book (better paper, thicker book), and the third printing notation on the credits/legal page. We'll shout the street date from the rooftops as soon a we know it. |

Has been really quiet for a while here. Any news on the upcoming books, Adam? Does everything went according to plan with the writers and the printer and shit? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I picked up Panopticon at GenCon. I'm only 25 pages in. The opening fiction is excellent. The bit on Surveillance which I'm on now is well done, although as a GM I'm only going to apply it sporadically (who wants to worry about capturing and tracking identities?) Flipping through the rest, it looks awesome, and smells very nice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I just ran EC at Gen Con and I have to say that the game is open to playing...pretty much anything within it's setting. You shouldn't just be allowed to play EC, you should be actively encouraged to play (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Whilst reading this thread last night, with Futurama playing in the background, I was hit with a thought: you could make a fairly serviceable combat medic from a Novacrab and call him John Zoidberg. And with that you could pretty much have a gritty, dark, hardcore Futurama reboot with Eclipse Phase. ...I probably shouldn't be allowed to play this game. |

I picked up the core book the other day (the free version).
What (if any) other books are under the Creative Commons license? Does anyone have the hardcopy core book? 50 bucks for a RPG is steep to this old fart (I was cheap and got SR4A from Amazon, as the FLGS doesn't carry SR anyway), but maybe it's the best book ever made or something. |

I have a hardcopy of the core book from when it was still being published by Catalyst. It's really nice: full color, well made, nice glossy paper, the whole nine yards. Apparently, the new third printing from Posthuman Studios is even nicer. If you can afford it, I strongly recommend dropping the $50. It's well worth it.

ALL of the books and products are released under CC (the only exception being a few pieces of art in the original printing of the core book).
PHS definitely releases high quality books. They're all hard cover, beautiful art, thick, glossy pages, full color with ribbons. I wouldn't worry about pages falling out in six months (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) However, if the cost is a bit steep, pick up the pdf and just get it printed and bound. You're fully within your right to do that. Heck, print and bind all of the books together into one monster book, or pull out the pages you don't like or put your house rules in using the hackpack to make them the 'official' style. It's all legit. |

EP is a grand game - I played 2 games at GenCon and went down to the dealer room and dropped the cash for a hardcopy. Which, as others have said, is a very nice book, both in the artwork, construction, 2 bookmark ribbons, heavy-paper, etc. The setting is dense and rather unique among RPG settings. High-tech, post-apocalyptic, in-space with weird-scary-crap going on - what's not to love?
That said, it can be a little hard for new players to absorb all that's changed in the world. I'm just hoping I can convince my home gaming group to indulge my new-found love for this game. |

Traveller, for instance, had had the same or similar elements in it's various incarnations over 30 years - High Tech, Post-Apocalyptic, In Space, Scary Stuff going on. And I'm pretty certain that GURPS TransHuman has had similar elements since its inception several years ago. |

EP is customized specifically for these elements. |

And I'm pretty certain that GURPS TransHuman has had similar elements since its inception several years ago. I was reasonably sure that when I posted that, there would be a torrent of counter-examples. That's why I threw the word 'rather' in there. I'm fully aware that practically every idea is derived from other ideas, it's just how human brains work. Our beloved shadowrun is basically a mash-up of cyberpunk and fantasy. I think EP is great because it's not just another sci-fi or fantasy or superhero RPG - while not being 100% original, it tends to stand-out from the pack. And in saying that, I should caveat myself to the hilt by saying: I've not played every RPG ever made, so me saying something's unique or cool should be taken rather lightly. |

I have hard copy of the core book, Gatecrashing and Sunward. I even tried to get in on a couple of games; one guy wouldn't let me in (after playing once) because I tried to get him to let me play as a monthly player and the other took my email address and then said something about suddenly becoming slammed at work. I'm debating whether or not to try to sell the books and move on from EP because of that; I like the game but having the books seems pointless if I can't get in on a game.
As an aside, I tend to see written words or phrases and try to rearrange them; what I'd do with Gate Crashing is call it a Great Cash Ring. |

I collect way more RPG books then i ever expect to get to play. I just kinda like diving into the systems and settings. Kinda like reading open ended scifi or fantasy.
