How will people ever know to hire you in the first place if you're so Ninja-fly that noone ever knows you did it.

As pointed out, the company that hired you isn't going to put up a post on the matrix rating your performance.
If you're so ultra Ninja that the company you hit never knew they were hit.
And the company that hired you never captalizes on the information.

It's as if it was never done.

The company isn't going to be all 'Yeah those guys. They kick ass. At what? Oh. Nothin'."
You don't just walk in a bar and walk up to people with "I'm a Shadowrunner dood' tag over their head in AR and hire them for a job. Your guys would be unknown with no way to be known if you take it to that extent.

Unknown means unhired, means no rep, means no money as you're just a dude with a gun.

Erm... what?

Are you seriously advocating generating as long a rap sheet as possible so you can sell yourself as discrete assets?

My boss knows I get my work done because, when the deadline arrives, I deliver a finished product. Shadowrunners operate by the same method. The work is necessarily secret, so the only people who know are the corp, the fixer, and the runners. The fixer gets his cut, so he's happy. When a different corp comes up, they WANT someone they haven't heard of - but who can be vouched for. That's exactly what they're paying the fixer for. Perhaps that bears repeating...

The fixer serves as the public face so discrete shadowrunners can be discrete.

The fixer has the reputation for getting things done (or more specifically, getting people to get things done). The FIXER has the rep. The runner has the skills. That's why the fixer gets a fat 20% cut off the top (and why the fixer will put pressure on the runners if they're failing to meet their contracts).

I actually look at it this way:

Johnson A to runners' fixer: Release the funds the group did a good job. I'm also going to throw in a 10K bonus for keeping it off radar.
Fixer: Glad to hear you are a satisfied customer.
Johnson A: If I need them again, I'll let you know.
Fixer: Great.

Two weeks later another J asks for a group to do a similar data search on a rivals computer system.
Fixer: I got just the team for you.

We got a solution to that in LA, but that only works in LA, anywhere else it'd get you killed. I agree with the others about the Fixer, that's what those are for.

Our technomancer gives nobody his number, lets no security camera see him, lets none of his calls be recorded, and uses his Erased quality to justify Alias his paragon helping him to delete Johnsons' and Fixers' dossiers on him via Resonance Realms. So nobody, not even his squadmates, knows how to contact him. he gets hired by monitoring the nets with his Multiprocessing echo, and calls fixers/Johnsons asking for the job if he notices that his usual associates are bing hired.

Obviously he has no life other than to monitor the net looking for the jobs he was hired to do.

Must be really boring.

With Mesh Reality, Multiprocessing, and a few sprites and agents, he's able to check on several places at once while he cooks breakfast. Or at least that's his interpretation.

Hey, you're happy with it. All I'm saying is that if I had to do that (for real) I'd get sick of it real quick.
