The SR4a book mentions a drug called Tempo. What sourcebooks or SRM runs should I look at to find out more about it and why it disappeared?

Pick up a book called Ghost Cartels. It's part of a large story arc. They are intentionally not telling you the details to avoid spoilers from that campaign.
