Tonight's dinner conversation consisted of my 8 year old and 5 year old having a very serious discussion on the differences of Eastern and Western dragons (wings vs no wings). Of course, then it devolved into the long standing question of if Dragons were related to birds. And if Western Dragons are related to birds, if that means Eastern Dragons are... and where the Sea Dragon stands in all this. |

Well the stalker aspect aside, I definitely am a fan of your work Jen. I recently went back and re-read through free fiction on SR4 site, never realized you wrote Old Bones till went back over them. I'm liking the DotA series and I like the tone and content of your SR writing. Too many SR authors fall into the encyclopedic style of writing while technically well done it can come off dry and lacking. I gotta say I happily lump you in with 2 or 3 others that DO NOT fall into that category. Looking forward to your future stuff.

Heh... I visit DS on a daily basis. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Along with many of the other SR writers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Then I should say I enjoy the Advanced Lifestyles rules from Runner's Companion. |

Of course, then it devolved into the long standing question of if Dragons were related to birds. And if Western Dragons are related to birds, if that means Eastern Dragons are... and where the Sea Dragon stands in all this. LOL! If I may give my 2 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) on the matter. Dragons seem related to the dinossaurs and the creatures that lived during their age (perhaps they evolved from them?) For the last 30-40 years there's been discussion if birds are an evolution of dinossaurs and last studies seem to prove that when a fossil was discovered with evidence of having (birds are the descendants of the Theropoda suborder: T-Rex, the various raptors, basically every predator). Now, Feathered Serpents do have feathers (duh) and their "arms" are their wings, while Eastern Dragons have no wings (or feathers) and Western Dragons have six limbs (their paws and wings). And Western Dragons are "weird" exactly because of the six limbs, there are no mammals, birds, reptiles with this number of limbs (and if there are they are not even 1% of the species). Perhaps there were two species (Eastern Dragons and Feathered Serpents) when some event similar to SURGE happened among the Eastern Dragon population giving them wings? And this event only happened where would be the Europian continent during the time. Anyway, just food for thought. If there is one thing I really like about Shadowrun is the scientific approach to mythical creatures. Now, to get back on topic: I really liked LA and the Advanced Lifestyles. LA would never be the kind of place where I would run, but I really like that there is at least ONE town where you are expected to go totally pink-mowhak. |

Then I should say I enjoy the Advanced Lifestyles rules from Runner's Companion. Thanks! The Advanced Lifestyle rules were the first "crunch" section I wrote (co-written with Adam Large). I have to admit that I had far too much fun writing them. Adam and I made each other laugh non-stop as we bounced Qualities back and forth. That and the examples of life style levels... (which, for the record, Peter Taylor edited down our more outrageous examples....) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

I can just imagine a Troll mom asking "Sweetie, will your friends stay for dinner?" while the group is planning an infiltration. |

Jen and Bobby have always been my favorite writers, so I am in on this for sure, especially since she is a Gamer Mom! I loved the convo with the kids about Dragons, my daughter is very similar in that regard. Also the advanced lifestyles are the only way to go, I have a rigger who is a 2nd generation runner, with an MIA dad who lives with mom to help support her. Great stuff!
