This thread is for tracking your current character sheets, keeping up with the list of who's who in the game and we'll keep the other thread going for OoC discussions etc. I will keep updating this post as you get more information on the various players / factions / anything else and I'll try and let you know when it has been editted.
Cast of Shadows The Fraternity Name: Monarch Metatype: Human Nationality: Unknown (assumed British) DOB: Unknown - around 2010 [ Spoiler ] Richard Quin (Monarch) is an urbane figure who relies on his easy smile and apparant good nature to put people at ease around him. Once a hard man, years of easy living have put a layer of flab over his bones. He has a bronzed complexion and greying hair but there is a hard edge to his charm. He has successfully negotiated the shadows for the past thirty odd years and is now living the 'high' life in an aquaology in the South Pacific. He maintains a wide ranging network of contacts across the Americas, Europe and more recently Asia but seldom meets people in the flesh any longer, preferring the security and annonymity of the matrix. He is a semi-retired 'external assets facilitator' and one of the original founders of the 'fraternity.' Name: Prospero Metatype: Human Nationality: UCAS DOB: Name: Mr Jones Metatype: Human Nationality: UCAS DOB: Runners currently working with the Fraternity Prime Runner Team: Balefire (500-600 BPs each) Pay Expectation: 20-25K nuyen / runner med-high end run Set up by Mother (rigger/hacker) and Bale (combat mage) in 2066. Team members also include Mother’s daughter Silk (infiltration specialist/adept) a hacker called Aria and a second infiltration specialist called Escapade (infiltration specialist/face). Technically very capable, they have reached the enviable stage of being in a position to pick and choose their jobs based on the agendas set by the team. They typically favour a subtle, even invisible approach using a large number of drones for infiltration and, in an emergency, fire support. Name: Mother Metatype: Orc Nationality: UCAS DOB: 2028 [ Spoiler ] Sara Waters (Mother) was born human to a human mother and orc father and then had an unusual mild goblinisation at puberty. She appears at first glance to be an athletic human women of slightly above average height and indeterminate age (anywhere between 25 and 40). Only closer inspection reveals her slightly elongated lower canines and the faint point to the tops of her ears. She typically dresses in corporate casual clothing but this is dropped in favour of form fitting armour and combat webbing when she is working. She initially followed her mother in to a career in the FBI as a surveillance specialist but was disillusioned with government life and remade herself in the shadows following the path that her father had taken before her. She usually takes an operational intelligence role in runs which earnt her monica for the way she watches over her team mates. Her daughter 'Silk' is also an important part of her life and an active runner in the Balefire team. Name: Bale Metatype: Human Nationality: British DOB: 2014 [ Spoiler ] Gareth Winters (Bale) is a darkly handsome man in his late fifties with just a hint of grey in his goatee and cropped hair. He is physically very fit but without the excessive bulk of a gym fanatic. Born in the United Kingdom he had a mixed childhood and in a bid to escape the lure of criminal activity his parents persuaded him to join the forces. His magical talent was discovered in basic training, although it had probably manifested itself before that without being recognised, and he was fast tracked to maximise his potential. His afinity for manipulation spells and breaking things lead him to become a combat engineer and he briefly saw action in the final stages of the Eurowars. He was later recruited by the Lord Protector's Office as a special operative and this contact with the shadows and after an altercation with his employers about some questionable activities he disappeared in to them for good. He established himself across the pond, in theory out of reach of the British government. Name: Silk Metatype: Orc Nationality: UCAS DOB: 2052 [ Spoiler ] Suzanna Waters (Silk) shares much of her mother's physical heritage and is not noticably orc like in appearance. She has a slight, flexible build and has a youthful prettiness that has managed to get her out of a few scrapes where her other skills have not. She is a third gen runner and has been surrounded by runners from birth. Their erratic lifestyle might have scarred her but her 'uncle's' rough educational skills, the friends she made on the matrix, and her online education have produced a relatively balanced individual (at least as far as most runners go!). As an adept Silk couples her magic with matrix technology and excels at breaking in to places where she should not be. She is perhaps unusual that despite an early life in the shadows, and knowledge of how to defend herself, she is a pacifist and is exceptionally lucky that her team welcome this fact. Name: Aria Metatype: Human Nationality: UCAS DOB: 2049 [ Spoiler ] Beth Hana (Aria) is an overweight, uncomfortable looking individual who usually looks like she could do with a wash, that is when she is seen at all as she prefers to interact entirely through the matrix. In the digital realm she is a completely different person. Her icon is a hi res child of light and she has an infectious laugh that fits her spritely personality. As with any good hacker, and Aria is very good, there is little eveidence of her past on the matrix. Her speech patterns and behaviour indicate a corporate upbringing rather than a street background and she either has had very good training or is exceptionally gifted in matrix interactions. Mother recruited her in to Balefire shortly after the team got together and they have proved an excellent partnership. Name: Escapade Metatype: Human Nationality: Formerly Renraku DOB: 2038 [ Spoiler ] David Rowley (Escapade) is a fairly non descript, wiry person but who lights up with a winning charm that most people find difficult to resist, a fact he puts to good use. He began life as a model corporate citizen and was duly set for a long career in human resources or marketting until the fateful day in December 2059 when the SCIRE shut down. He hasn't really spoken about his experiences there but it certainly marked him for life. Pro Runner Team: Expeditors (450-500 BPs each) Pay Expectation: 15K nuyen / runner med-high end run Medusa/Narcissus (samurai/face) put the team together in 2068 for a specific run but their effective teamwork meant that they have maintained a fairly stable group and have an excellent success rate. They specialise in hard, fast, ‘shock and awe’ style infiltrations, overwhelming resistance and escaping before a coordinated response can be implemented. This is achieved through a combination of excellent pre strike intelligence, stealth and heavy weaponry. Archon (infiltration specialist) works point, whilst Hades (hacker) provides matrix cover. A former merc. Hazard (samurai/rigger) provides firepower and transport and then they contract additional help if specifically required, in particular, magical support. Runner Team: Revenants (400BPs each) Pay Expectation: 10K nuyen / runner low-med run Morgue (samurai) created this group as specialists in extractions and they have numerous successful runs under their belts. Cypher’s (adept) abilities to change his appearance have been particularly useful to the team whilst Masque (weapons specialist) backs them up when a more violent approach is required. Reaver (mage) compliments Cypher’s abilities with an array of illusions and GridReaper (hacker) provides the same role in the matrix to spoof their way in to places they don’t belong. Individual Runners (400BPs) Pay Expectation: 5-10K nuyen each for a low-med run Bounty Hunter - Melody Bounty Hunter - Hopper Combat Mage - Hemlock Covert Ops Specialist - Locksmith Covert Ops Specialist - Pepper Drone Rigger - Echo Face - Whisper Gunslinger Adept - Opium Hacker - Escher Hacker - Synapse Mage - Ozone Occult Investigator - Era Physical Adept - Cinnamon Rigger - Tangent Street Samurai - Solomon Street Samurai - Granite Street Samurai - Dimples Street Shaman - Blizzard Smuggler - Riptide Weapons Specialist - Ash I'm sure there will be more to come... |

Groups, Factions & Individuals outside of the Fraternity
Stillwater Community, Redmond, Seattle [ Spoiler ] This transhuman urban tribe are an eclectic mix of individuals living in harmony with the land around them. They are centred on an eco tower on and within Stillwater lake that was originally part of a luxury health spa benefitting from the thermal waters leaking up from the surrounding volcanoes in the Cascades. The lake is just outside the 203 which officially forms the boundary of the Seattle Metroplex area with the Salish Shide lands. They are sufficiently small that the authorities ignore them and the land, until now, has been too polluted and close to the barrens to be of interest to the Salish. This may change as they are steadily improving the local ecosphere but they have forged important political connections on both sides of the border that should keep them safe for the moment. The majority of this small community live in the large houses abandoned when the bottom fell out of Redmond and they are protected from outsiders by the CyWolves / Wolf Pack. (RL note: I’m not sure if there are thermal waters in the region at the moment but given the volcanic activity in the Seattle area it’s surely possible that thermal springs might appear. If not, call it GM licence) CyWolves / Wolf Pack [ Spoiler ] This group are an odd mix between a territorial gang, go-gang and smuggler outfit. They defend the Stillwater community, transport goods from Seattle, across the Redmond Barrens, on to connections in the Salish Shide communities and beyond. Their smuggling connections means they have access to much better technology than the typical Redmond gang and this has kept them from being too much of a target, despite the rich pickings they represent to the desperate in the Barrens. Their elite group within a group are the Wolf Pack, lead by a runner called Feral, who are part gang and part hi-tech shadowrunners. Runners Name: Feral Metatype: Human Nationality: UCAS Hispanic (Sinless) DOB: 2035 [ Spoiler ] José Lomaz (Feral) was born to a poor family in Touristville, Redmond until his magic manifested at 14 and his parents effectively sold him to Central Industrial, a large subsidiary of what was then Fuchi Technologies and placed on their fledgling magical studies program. Along with a number of others he began the indoctrination into the corporate family. Under the rigid corporate control he learnt a great deal but almost at the expense of his magic that made him valuable in the first place. Wolf’s voice, that he had begun to hear, was almost subsumed by his programming until finally Feral was able to break free and rid himself of the corp taint. He ran wild for a time until a fortuitous meeting with the Old Man who straightened his path and eventually guided him to Stillwater where he was able to channel his talents for his benefit and that of others. |

Groups, Factions & Individuals outside of the Fraternity Pt 2
Name: Frank Bishop Metatype: Orc Nationality: UCAS DOB: 2021 [ Spoiler ] Frank is a burly orc, now slightly long in the tooth, who prides himself on his impeccable dress, good manners, ruthless streak and the size of his lower canines which gives him a noticeable lisp when he speaks. Not much is known about his background and he is keen to keep it that way and he apparently has few close friends. He does maintain excellent relations with several runner groups in the Seattle area, however, and his presence would be missed should anything untoward happen to him. He travels the plex in a container lorry that contains the average runner’s wet dream in weapons, tech and offline information banks, all of it suitably protected against anyone who might want to make of with something without paying. (RL note: credit should go to Grant who introduced Frank to our group in Bath – the place not the white goods.) |

Skytale does the deed in this case for Jared, and he is very, very good at what he does. Local Fame - Seattle (5BP) While it has been nearly a decade, plenty of people still recognize the Assistant District Attorney of Seattle who allegedly slept with a Mafioso's teenage daughter, and then tampered with the evidence in one of his collegue's cases in order to make sure the Mafioso didn't see jail time. While the allegations were false, Jared took it as a chance to bow out of public office. Oddly enough the public sees him as some kind of fading cult hero, more than likely because of his reputation before that. Hand in hand with Lone Star, Jared was responsible for deftly picking apart several major Mafia operations, and was seen as the city's golden boy. Skytale Human|Freelance Crypto-Analyst|Hacker|Loyalty: 4 Connections: 5 Zach Gratowski (aka Skytale) runs a quiet spy-gear shop called Flemming's Grocery in Tacoma, which is how the former NSA Codebreaker passes the days of his early retirement away. By night he is a hacker of no small talet, using his former connections ands a series of well placed back doors to ply his trade. Skytale is the one Jared relies upon to erase any indescretions which may make their way to his record, and to keep the information any of his potential hires receive nice and stereotypically Mr. Johnson. In exchange, Jared uses his own connections to keep the eyes off the law away from Zach's side-game. Zach provides Jared both information security, and access to government and matrix connections. Dinah Lane] Elf|Courtesan|Loyalty: 3|Connections: 2 Dinah is an independant escort working out of Bellevue who counts Jared as a regular client. She is struck most by the fact that he solicits her for the actual advertised escort services rather than the more sought after of her skills. Dinah provides Jared with arm-candy for events where it is best not to be seen alone, and she has dirt on several corporate executives, though she is usually loathe to dish. Cecil Hoades Dwarf|Seattle City Council|Lawyer|Loyalty: 3|Contacts: 5 Back when Jared still had some idealistic notions, and he was in good standing with the people, and they gave away free soup on the streets, Cecil was a young up and comer in the DA's office, while Jared was an ADA. The two were much closer prior to Jared's downfall in the public sector, but they maintain contact even now, and often steal away at fundraisers for imported cigars and talk of sports. Cecil provides Jared a window into civic politics he has been denied since his retirement. Jack Marshall Human|Lone Star Detective|Anacronist|Loyalty: 3|Connections: 1 Sometimes it pays to know a good cop, and though he is long past his prime, Jack is one of the best the city has to offer. He was on the beat during the Night of Rage, and he's seen everything you can throw at a cop and survived it. Together Jared and Jack used to prosecute and put away some of the worst scum the city has seen. While he may not have the connections he once did, Jared values Jack's council from time to time on the finer workings of the law over a pint. Sally Wainright Human|Lone Star Corporate Liason Officer|Loyalty: 1|Connections: 3 Sally is a recent acquaintence of Jared's, a woman in the know when it comes to issues of juristiction, and secretly an addict. While Jared does not like relying upon someone with such a problem, he keeps her in contact with the right people to feed her addiction, and in return she ocassionally aranges a stall in getting Lone Star officers clearance to pass through a corporation's turf. Gil Falcone Human|LS Detective|Syndicate Ties|Loyalty: 1|Connections: 3 Gil isn't the guy you see on a Lone Star recruiting ARO. He's not the shining becon of justice, no, instead he is the bitter guy slogging his way through every day with a forced soy-caf stained smile. He never wanted to be a cop, but his Family thought it would be a good idea if one of their own took up the sheild. Gil is an inside man for the Mafia in Lone Star, and Jared knows this. In exchange for keeping this nice and quiet, Gil provides the ocassional bit of information on, or good word with, both his employers and his Family. Topher Weiss Human|FBI Field Agent|Loyalty: 1|Contacts: 2 Jared and Topher don't have an exhaustive history, and Jared doens't trust the young man as far as he can throw him, but he represents to Jared a potential wealth of inside information on the government's movements. In exhcnage for keeping ocassional Federal heat off of Jared, Topher gets access to the same level of information about the goings on in Seattle's shadows. Gaz Troll|Street-Level Fixer|Loyalty: 2|Contacts: 1 Gaz isn't the brightest fixer on the streets. He isn't even really a fixer, but a face for Jared's lower end dealings. Gaz gets to be happy thinking he is important, while Jared gets a layer of deniability, as well as a mask to wear from time to time. Bernie Levy Dwarf|Talent Agent|Mafia-Indebted|Loyalty: 2|Contacts: 3 Bernie got his start managing simporn talent. Though he's mostly transcended his less than savory roots, he still has an air of sleeze about him. The rumors that he owes money to the Finnegan family are entirely true, which is a rarity in the tabloid centric rumormill around him. Jared covers the ocassional payment in exchange for access to Bernie's talent pool as background support for his teams. Hiro Yashimoto Human|Takeshi-san|Former Rival|Loyalty: 1|Contacts: 4 Yashimoto is a career Johnson for MCT. While their business interests often conflict, he and Jared established a cordial professional relationship while Jared was employed at Horizon. Now that Jared's official ties to Horizon's Human Resources Group have been severed, he and Hiro ocassionally find themselves collaborating, though through a complex series of favours. Sandy Winters Elf|Spa-Coordinator|Ex-Paramour|Loyalty: 3|Contacts: 2 Ms. Winters is employed at the Horizon `Creative Retreat` Resort on Cougar Mountain, and is a former paramour of Jared's. While their relationship was little more than physical to him, Sandy harbours feelings for the former companyman, feelings which Jaed does not shy from curtailing into favours and the ocassional tidbit on the goings on at the retreat. Rachel Running Eagle Human|Immigration Official|Loyalty: 2|Contacts: 3 Rachel is an Immigration Coordinator for the Salish-Shide Council residing on Council Island. She and Jared have a long history, having not only attended pre-law at the University of Washington together, but lived together for a time. While they aren't so close anymore, they have seen eachother through tough times, and remain quite friendly. Orsino `The Bear` Tignanelli Human|UCASMC Quartermaster|Former Legbreaker|Loyalty: 3|Contacts: 2 Sgt. Tignanelli is a UCAS Marine Quartermaster stationed at Ft. Lewis who would have no reason to know Jared if it weren't for his rather colourful youth. When he was younger, The Bear was a legbreaker for the Bigio Family, and in a moment of foresight and compassion Jared aranged to have charges against him dropped, suggesting to the kid that the Marines might be a better place to utilize his talents. While he's left his protection days behind him, The Bear still knows people, and how to make a shipment dissapear from time to time for an old friend. Athena Helms Elf|Real-Estate Agent|Loyalty: 3|Contacts: 2 Athena is one of the premiere independant real-estate agents in the Metroplex, and was the woman who sold Jared on his greenside condo. Jared has since referred quite a bit of solid business her way. In exchange she ocassionally loans him properties for meetings or safehouses. Robert Dawson Human|Black Clinic Doctor|Loyalty: 4|Contacts: 1 As steady-handed a surgeon as they come, despite the drinking problem which lost him his tenure, Robert Dawson is one of Seattle's least known, yet finest black clinic doctors. He is also a former fraternity brother of Jared's. While the two aren't exactly (or at least often) golf-partners, and Jon would not see his old friend for his own medical care, he does refer the doctor a good deal of clients with certified credsticks in hand. Tommy Wolfe Human|Irish Catholic Chaos Mage|P.I.|Loyalty: 1|Contacts: 2 and Sam Marlowe `Human`|Carries a Big Gun|Loyalty: 1|Connections: 1 Take one ex-Lone Star officer with a head full of mythology and a family full of cops and a mysterious gunslinger with an uncanny investigative nose and a noir sensability and you've got the two principles of the Gunsmoke Detective Agency. While neither of the men trust Jared enough to put the full extent of their contacts at his disposal, Jared's consultancy retains their agency's services for their somewhat above the board investigations. Samantha `Silver-Qik` Valdez Elf|Courier|Shadowrunner|Loyalty: 3|Contacts: 2 The gal who would be called Silver-Quk is a Federal Express driver by day, and shadow-courier by night (ok, and by day sometimes, too). Samantha is a natural driver, a demon behind the wheel who remains unaugmented, and survives on a photographic memory and intimate knowledge of both the streets and her ride - she maintains both her daytime and personal vehicles herself. Samantha has been working jobs - legitimate and shadow - for Jared since his days with Horizon. Salvadore Giovanni Human|Mafia Tailor|Loyalty: 2|Contacts: 3 With a name like The Suit to maintain, a good tailor is prerequisite. Sal is the only tailor Jared trusts with his wardrobe, and it just so happens Sal is a retired Solodati, who happens to be the trusted tailor of several of Seattle's Families. While Jared still grooms a public image as a mob-buster, Sal was one of the fish he let off the hook, and the two have shared a cordial relationship ever since. Jared was born on the thirteenth of Jun, 2031 at Virginia Mason Medical Center - where his father was a cardiac surgeon and his mother an executive administrator - in downtown Seattle. He is a Seattelite through and through, and holds more loyalty to the Metroplex than to the UCAS at large. 2) Does your character have a family? Jared's mother passed away at fifty-two, succumbing to lymphatic cancer - amongst his various philanthropic endevours are sizable donations to cancer research programs. His father died during the Crash 2.0 while performing a remote surgery. Jared has one younger sister, Elsabeth, who resides in Seattle, and is a Lone Star staff psychologist and criminal profiler. The two are on friendly terms, and have a standing monthly lunch engagement which they rarely miss. 3) Does your character have an ethnic background? Jared's familial line is predominantly German, and can be traced back to the nobility of the Kingdom of Prussia circa the late fifteen-hundreds. Familial records have been studiously kept, and at this point there has been neither sign of metagenetic expression, nor Awakening in any member. APPEARANCE 4) What does your character look like? Jared is average in height, and posessed of a lithe frame covered in lean muscle. He has about him the look of a man who spends a good deal of time with a personal trainer, or at a private gym - likely because he is the type of person who spends a good deal of time with a personal trainer. At birth he was dark haired, though by the age of twenty he started 'going grey'. His hair is now fully silver, and he is possessed of icy blue eyes. He has no distinguishing marks, and no birthmarks on record. Those that he may have had have been removed in surgery. 5) What does your character dress like? A name like The Suit implies a certain level of formal dress - or should, as a man in a ratty seasons old suit would be called something less than flattering. Jared dresses in suits from longstanding houses, rather than on the bleeding edge of fashion. He favors suits of the Brooks Brothers cut to the Euro-blend or Oriental lines many executives wear these days, as they remain timeless. Each of his suits is custom tailored, and his accessories befit a man of his status in Seattle's society. 6) Does your character have physical quirks? Jared is festidious about his grooming routines and appearances, perhaps due to his obsessive tendancies. Though perhaps not a quirk, he has never been seen to be armed, believing that a man in his position has better things to do than spend time in a range. SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES, AND RESOURCES 7) Where did your character learn their Active Skills? Some people work hard to refine their social skills. They attend prepatory academies, join honors societies, they study kinesics and gobble up all of the trid and tutorsoft information they can get their hands on. Those are people who had to work entirely too hard to get practically nothing. Jared was born with the gift for reading and manipulating people - the oft told of silver tongue - and his years of schooling only served to hone that gift, rather than impart skill upon him. Jared's athletics, rather than a gift, came from a fierce compeditive streak, and good old fashion time in the gym and on various sports fields. 8 ) Where did your character learn their Knowledge Skills? While his parents' professions assured that the family wanted for nothing, they did not allow for their children to receive Ivy League educations. This suited Jared well enough. Jared attended the University of Washington, with a focus on Pre-Law, and a minor in Political Science. Despite receiving offers of scholarship to Columbia and Georgetown University Law he chose to remain true to his Metroplex roots (and a doomed romance), and completed the final three years of his Law Degree a UDub. His love of literature stems from an earlier period of time in his life, however it was during his university years that he picked up his rudimentary Japanese and Korean, to feed his diverse reading habits - the Spanish came later, for business. The shadier of Jared's knowledge skills came during his time working with Horizon's Human Resources department, as an unprepared Johnson is ofted a dead one. 9) Where did your character get his goodies? The life that Jared has lived on both sides of the shadows has afforded him a certain standard of living to which he has both become accustomed, and is expected to maintain. Save the disposable of his gear, which is purchased as needed through Gabriel or provided by Skytale, all of his gear was legitimately purchased. 10) Where does your character live? Jared lives in a luxury greenside condo in a small executive enclave, the One the Green Condominum complex in Fairwood Greens. He has nearly three tousand square feet, with private parking, to himself. While the balcony and large windows greenside lack for privacy he has neighbors who know better than to snoop, and is in fact an active and celebrated member of the community. 11) Who are your character's contacts? He makes a living cultivatin contacts, and has been grooming/maintaining some of them for years, decades even. (See the attatched contact section for details). 12) Who are your character's enemies? Having lived both as a high profile 'mob-buster' and a corporate Mr. Johnson, Jared has the veritable laundry list of enemies. There is emnity between himself and the Mafia more than any of the major syndicated, and he has some heat with the Yakuza -though his recently blooming professional relationship with Hiro Yashimoto has done a good deal to mitigate the danger on his part. 13) What is your character's attitude towards Magic? Jared, being mundane and from a family which has never produced an Awakened member, has little hands on experience with magic. He is, however, aware of its usefulness in the trade which his employees ply, and in the world at large. That said, he does not especially trust the Awakened, as he is unable to actively defend himself against their potential meddlings in his mind and affairs. PERSONALITY 14) What are your character's likes and dislikes? Jared is a man of simple tastes. Football, porno and books about war. Two of those are amongst his hobbies. He holds season tickets to the Seahawks, and has a sizable collection of real-paper books on subjects beyond mere war. Pornography holds little appeal to him, as he is quite able to find female companionship. The Leary three aside, Jared is a regular on the Seattle golf scene, and relishes the chance (at quite an expense) to play in pro-am tournaments. He has a share in a Horizon reserved box at the Seattle Symphony, and often surrounds himself with classical music. 15) What is your character's moral code? While Jared works in a world between the legal and extralegal, he is actually an ardent defender of justice. The ADA's position was, for him, a chance to see organized crime pay for the ill had done the community. He is also a stickler for a contract, be it verbal or otherwise, and will do his best to adhere to his end of any bargain, expecting no less of the other party. Jared will also not associate himself directly with wetwork, massive property damage, or any act which might endager the larger public safety. 16) Does your character have goals? Jared has met many of his early goals in life, and exceeded them (the move to the corporate world, and establishing his own consultancy had not been aspirations of his in his youth). With business good, both legitimate and otherwise, Jared has been toying with the idea of running for public office, if only as an exercise in personal power. 17) Does your character have personal beliefs? As stated above, Jared has a strong belief in justice and the law, even though it may seem in contrast with his shadier career path. He is a German Catholic, and attends mass frequently, if not on a regular basis. Jared also has a philanthropic bent, and donates to a variety of charities. 18) Does your character have personality quirks? His fastidious nature and obsessive tendancies aside, Jared is otherwise unremarkable as far as quirks go (he does have a thing for elf women, but who doesn't?). RUNNING THE SHADOWS 19) Why does your character run the shadows? Jared came to the shadows as a result of a smear campaign by a jealous rival, and with the stepping stone of Horizon he has found himself quite comfortable there. The extra income, albeit income he must be careful in his spending of, has allowed him to continue leading the life he was accustomed to while at the same time starting up his own consultancy. 20) How does your character view his/her role as a shadowrunner? Jared, as The Suit, is a facilitator. He is the honest man that the criminal element need in order to bridge the gap between street and corporate/ Bonus Round: 1. What happened (if anything) to you during the crash? Jared's father was conducting a remote bipass surgery when the Crash 2.0 occurred, and he was lost to the Matrix, flatlined along with the other attending surgeon. 2. What are your principal motivations for being in the shadows? Filthy lucre, and a bit of a power trip. 3. What are your short term goals? Jared is looking to establish a retirement nestegg. Enough that, combined with the money from his consultancy, will allow him to never have to work an honest day in his life. 4. Any long term goals? He would shoot for the White House if it was ain Seattle. That said, the Gubernatorial mansion is not too shabby. 5. Any family / friends that are important enough for walking plot hooks? His sister is alive and well and living in Seattle, working as a staff Psychologist for Lone Star. Bio: [ Spoiler ] Milo Sinclair, Paranormal Investigator It surprised absolutely no one in his family when Milo decided to drop out of college ten years ago to open up his own paranormal investigation agency. If anything, they were surprised he lasted so long before he, as Aunt Wilhemina had so delicately put it, "fell off his fuckin' seahorse." Even as a kid, Milo had always been fascinated by the zany and the weird, the mysterious and unexplained. He would tell his mom he's doing homework, then lock himself in his room and read books about blackberry cats and wendigos. His mom would get all sorts of pissed off when she found out, and beat him with a plastic clothes hanger until it broke, but that didn't faze Milo one bit. Eventually she gave up and accepted the fact that her son was forever doomed to be an oddball. School had never been the boy's strong suit (unless they were learning about dragons), but he managed to get himself accepted into the local community college with a major in Magic Theory. Life was a peach, and he was heading towards a career in magical research until one fateful night his junior year, when a barghest broke into their residence hall and decided to have itself a midnight snack. Students and staff were running about in terror, and the beastie was about to take a chomp out of Milo's roommate when our hero sprung into action, drawing his roommate's competition pistol and shooting the barghest through the eye, dropping it in one shot. There was a lot of hoo-hah for a few days, he got his face in the local screamsheets, congratulations were abound, then life returned to normal for awhile. Milo's roommate managed to convince him to join the school's target shooting team, where he discovered a remarkable talent for handling a pistol. He took the team to nationals, then suddenly had the inspired thought to drop out of school to start up his own business in investigating all things supernatural. Unfortunately, Milo had about as much business sense as a door nail, and his venture quickly got sunk by overhead costs and increasing debt. However, his escapades caught the attention of a corporate recruiter for the Draco Foundation, who offered him the opportunity to work as one of the Foundation's many instruments in executing the late dragon Dunkelzahn's will. It needs not be said that, to Milo, this was the opportunity of a lifetime, and he said yes before the recruiter even finished giving his pitch. After being churned through their rigorous, year long training program, where he perfected his talent for target shooting and picked up a few new tricks along the way, Milo officially became a consultant for the Foundation, complete with a new car and apartment, all on the company's dime. Unofficially, he did whatever the Foundation needed him to, from tracking down wayward beneficiaries to hunting blood mages in Aztlan. For the next few years, life was dangerous, but never dull, which was just the way Milo liked it. Unfortunately, when the second Matrix crash took the world by storm and Foundation chairperson Nadja Daviar became one of the disappeared, the company was thrown into chaos, and in the ensuing corporate shuffle, many assets were downsized. When the smoke cleared, Milo found himself with a generous severance package, but no job. Ever the optimist, and never one to stay in one place for too long, Milo packed his bags and headed out on a new journey towards the great unknown, ready and willing to tackle whatever life was going to throw at him next. A talented hacker and a very sarcastic wit, Tess is usually Milo's go-to girl when he needs some paydata that can only be found on the Matrix. They've only done business a few times, and he doesn't know much about the person behind the avatar, or if Tess is even her real name. Her station's audience is still small, but it's been getting more and more popular, and Tess has high hopes for her brainchild. Arthur Crane, Talismonger ( Connection 1, Loyalty 2 ) - Old man Crane runs a small shop in the Barrens that sells all sorts of magical talismans and trinkets. Milo calls him "Gramps" because he hates children and would never willingly be someone's grandfather. Despite his perpetually sour demeanor, Milo knows Crane is a decent man at heart, and nobody knows more about weird stuff than ole Gramps. His knowledge isn't limited to magical artifacts either; the old guy is like ten sets of encylopedias stuffed into one, and Gramps is the guy Milo calls whenever he comes across something no one has ever seen before. Onetail, Dragon ( Connection 1*, Loyalty 1 ) - A young western dragon Milo encountered while he was still working with the Draco Foundation who seemed to have developed an unhealthy interest in him. From what little he can surmise, it means him no harm, at least for the time being, and is satisfied with being a rather elusive, yet recurring presence in his life.
