Hello Folks,

i was thinking about a pixie char. but some of the fluff of the past is missing in the new SR4 books. So i didnīt find a clue that pixies e.g. change their skin color over time etc. Did i overread it in the RC or RW?

Besides that, i would like to know if the "enhanced senses" power of a pixie, which is basically astral perception, is equal with the "dual natured" advantage for not causing a -2 pool modifier for physical tasks.

Thanks in advance.

No, they left out that part and similar references to Earthdawn windlings.
We can also only speculate whether they start with Edge 1 or 2.

It's not Dual Natured, so it works like normal astral perception, i'd say.
That's the price for being able to turn your built-in astral vision off when it becomes a problem.

Why should that matter? They're going to be riding around piloting Otomo drones from a modified rigger cocoon in the chest, no?

Oh. Wait. That's just me, isn't it?

If the skin coloration is just happening over a long period of time, no mechanic is really necessary. It's little different than most outfits in the game; you can change their color on a whim (SR4A p. 326). In fact, there's no reason why you can't turn any outfit into a camouflage suit (as in camouflage patterns; not ruthenium-style invisibility), thereby grossly lowering the need for specialty suits or even ones that can only display a single color pattern.

Anyway, the point is that you don't need a rule for everything. Especially if it's just mood skin. And yeah, when "monster" races are turned into playable races, they often lose a lot of their normal abilities in the name of game balance. If it's not listed with the playable version of the race, it's not a 'mistake' so much as an intentional choice.

At least they didn't make Regeneration a completely different ability for critters and players like it used to be. They were all but unidentifiable when compared to one another.

Aaahhh...i basically donīt have a problem with missing fluff. So there are also the informations missing that pixie-flight is limited in lenght and the weight they can carry.

Regarding weight maybe, but lenght of flight? According to the text, they fly by magical means, not with their wings at all. Quite like dragons.

Soo.. as long as they want to? Or treat it like levitation? Since there wasn't anything written on this I've been having my little guy fly any reasonable distance without problem.

RC specifically says no, a pixie's perception is just like any other magical person's perception, it's not like a shapeshifters.

As far as how far they can fly, how far can you walk without getting tired? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
