I tried looking for a sticky thread that had links to handbooks and/or equipment guide or optimization techniques but to no avail.
Either this thread can become one or please point me to the one everyone uses, even on a different site.

On the wizards forum site there's The Complete Collection of Character Build Links which holds links to other handbooks and guides, collections....
Does there exist one for shadowrun?
If not, do you have a link to brainstorming optimal strategies for mages and enhancing spells through bioware?
How to keep drain(?) to a minimum when overcasting?
Best bang(literally) for the buck when purchasing guns and making gun-dogs(robots with guns, forgot their name)?
What are pixies and drakes?

Character options from Runners Companion. Drakes are fucking awesome if you know what you're doing.
(They are, however, not an optimal choice for munchkinning)

Question: Are you playing RAW?

Because, so many on this forum play adapted offshoots from SR4A and I can't maximize for an unknown set of rules.

Short answer: No there are no such set of optimization links. There are a few threads with complete character builds, and some trying to abuse the rules as much as possible (pornomancer and murdercycle im looking at you), but no complete Street Samurai guide or any such.

Try a search for builds maybe?

Mind, there's only one person the Pornomancer could ever get all his bonuses to:

Someone who lives in his hometown, but whom he's never met, meets them in the pornomancer's Home Ground territory, all the while the Pornomancer is famous world-wide.

And he has to proposition them for sex.

One of Shadowrun's greatest strengths is that there are many different ways to optimize a character. Generally, you get best results by specializing in one or two things, which usually leaves you enough points left over that you are functional outside of your main role (in other words, your sammie can still deal with basic social situations, can sneak around if he needs to, etc.).

There are a lot of builds floating around here. A lot of them are more theoretical exercises than playable characters, though. The pornomancer and the ultimate mundane climber were both "How many dice can you get for this?" exercises - as actual characters, they would be suboptimal because they sacrifice versatility for the sake of a number of dice that is, really, overkill most of the time.

They could have half of their dicepools and still be overkill most of the time in my opinion... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

No, there aren't any handy links to character optimization. Mostly because getting dumpshock to agree on any of the rules in general is a painful, mind-numbing experience. Still, its one thing I wished this place had - most other games forums have collections of tips, tricks, places to find things, or useful community threads. On this server, the 'Important Dumpshock Links' thread has.... links to the front page, irc, the makers of the game, a fan-project, and nothing actually useful within the forum archives itself.

That being said, if you're interested in character optimization, the people here are rather knowledgable, and if you want to pick their brains, you're better off asking specific questions.
