I am kinda tired of watching the 40k dudes dominate the tablespace at my flgs. the tactics they use are kinda silly for a 42nd millennium game. I have much more interest in seeing vehicles chase each other around the field an having a more dynamic than static game. Most of the 40k games I see involve 1) drop units on field, 2 leave brick o units on corners, 3) CHARGE! (and lob magic, arty ect)
Vehicles and drones in the SR world are, for the most part, FAST. There are no rules for Main Battle tanks in SR4 for 2 reasons. 1 once a runner sees an mbt in combat, they are screwed, and 2 its is out of scale for the rules as intended.
I think it would be fun to play a mini's campain in the Sr world. There are lots of good choices to draw from. The Amazonia conflict, Desert Wars, Ghost walker vs the Azzies. Texas Vs the Azzies. Texas vs the Azzies again. Ozzies Vs the drop bears. the bug city wars. The Arcology containment conflict.

I want to hear some of your ideas on this subject. I know that VOR was one of the products that killed FASA, but I really liked it, and I think that there is a place for a sr style minis game in the market. AT 43 is the only thing that comes close.

Tabletop miniature fights are slower because of one rather major limitation -- the tabletop is only so big. You could perhaps make a road around the tabletop and pretend that it's straight or something, but otherwise, when you abstract it down, things would be moving about as quickly as they do in Warhammer 40k.

Try running a large battle in Shadowrun -- it takes about as long as Warhammer, since you'd be rolling attack and dodge for everyone. If you really want a fast paced game, you need something that's even more abstracted, something like D&D miniatures or HeroClix or something.

Vor didn't kill FASA, it just got published late in their lifecycle. Plus Skuz keps promising us Vor 2.0 someday....

I know for a fact as well that people have dropped minis rules on Catalyst (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
