Could distance strike be used for grapples and other forms of unarmed attack? The 'concussive force' part of the description doesn't really suggest as such, but the crunchy bit doesn't say 'no' flat out.

[Sarcasm] QUOTE (http://www.answers.com/main/ntquery?gwp=13&s=strike) Strike 1. To hit sharply, as with the hand, the fist, or a weapon. 2. To inflict (a blow). QUOTE (http://www.answers.com/topic/sharp) Sharp Abrupt or acute QUOTE (http://www.answers.com/topic/abrupt) Abrupt Unexpectedly sudden Just to clarify, the name itself defines it as a "Sudden Hit from a Distance". Grappling and "Sudden" have nothing to do with each other. [/Sarcasm] No, it is not for grappling. |

The power defines an unarmed physical attack, which a grapple maneuver most definately is. Otherwise I'd have gone directly with the mental dictionary definition instead of scarpering here for the collective opinion of Dumpshock's readers.

Sounds like you might want to be a Mystic Adept and get Magic Fingers if you want to grapple someone from a distance.

That
http: //upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...-10.11.2007.jpg or that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:WrestlingBulldog.jpg seems to be a "Sudden Attack from a Distance "and I think the Target will be down for a couple of Seconds at least with a "sudden Dance from a Distance" Medicineman |

I have always taken the distance strike ability to be similar the punch spell (its kind of similar). At best its a telekenetic blast from the hand / fist aimed at the opponant not a magical hand you can use to crush someones throat like vader |

I ruled that the answer is "Yes" for sweeps and quick takedown strikes. You can't "grapple" for any length of time with it, though. It's one shot, all or nothing, each time it's used.

Only if you wear a black helmet, black cape, have a voice modulator, and combine it with the adept centering of saying "You have failed me for the last time."
