I am all for stealing cars for a quick get away, but the way things are explianed in the Rigger 3 you had better have a electronics guy along to extend your ride.

The tranq thing is probably your best bet. As it might not raise any alrams right away.

I seem to remember cars now have Panic Buttons in them wired into the gride guide onboard computer, so you might want to aim for a car that is not SoTA

I'm sure it means something to him. I'm just not going to speculate on what.

Boosting cars in 2060 is definitely an Electronics B/R gig -- the standard carjacking of today is decidedly unwise.

It's only a matter of time until the OnStar system includes remote shut-off in addition to all the other features being added.

I reccomend a Jammer to anyone boosting a car in 2063. Jam the car's transponder and get it to the chopshop as fast as you can. If you have the skills, jam the car's specific transponder frequency while broadcasting a dealer or anon signal.

For speed, I've always gone with a 5lb sledge and a cold chisel. Then a muscle-augmented Electronics (B/R) to remove the unneeded transponder bits. Not elegent. Not at all, but very, very fast. Especially when you don't care about needing to tie the door closed to drive off.

According to Rigger 3, page 18.

Removing a Termination Chip requires an Electronics B/R 5 test with a base time of 10 minutes.

Presumeably, this is to disable the termy chip without fragging the entire electrical system.

I had a rigger NPC once who boosted cars when they wouldn't be missed for a day or two (he'd do research on the owners, etc.), brought them to his shop, added an RC interface, and drove them right back to their spaces. In this way he had a huge network of dormant drones all over the city that he could access when he wanted. He'd give the players rides out of trouble with vehicles that just happened to be parked a few blocks away, or use them to crash into persuing vehicles, etc. He boosted a lot of cars to just chop up and sell, too, considering that RC interfaces aren't cheap.

That guy made a shitload of money from the PCs.
