I'm not 100% certain about that. To me Aztechnology is sort of the SR equivalent of the Cuthulu cult.

I never really viewed them as a Cthulu Cult. I always played them as people who merely desired money and power rapidly, but closed their eyes towards long term problems. Should Aztechnology have enough information about previous worlds and horrors? Seems likely. Has the leadership of the company actually looked into these problems? I deem it doubtful.

Of course, there is probably a minority of Aztechnology guys who think it will be fun to enter into spirit pacts with horrors...but IMO that should be a pretty small minority. The rest are just having a good time "sith-ing out" and getting fabulously wealthy...like all good drug dealers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

"Horror" is code for "demon" in general, not just the Cthulhu mythos (which is just one small fraction of what the Horrors entail). Making pacts with demons has been something people have been doing since the dawn of time, at least in mythology and fiction if not reality. And it certainly happened in the 4th World, too.

Aztechnology itself isn't a cult. It's better to say that it's a corporate that's been "Horror-touched" and infiltrated by high-ranking, powerful magicians who dabble in those arts. The vast majority of the company is composed of regular, everyday people.

(I think it would be cool if the Blood Elf ritual re-manifested at some point in SR and horrendously painful thorns sprouted from the skin of half of the pretty-boy elves out there, anybody with me?)

The SR3 book Threats eludes to the fact that Aztech's top guy is trying to bring back the Horrors. So the small minority are the ones running the show.

We actually have a character in our new game that, for all intents and purposes, is a Blood Elf... the thorns have yet to completely form (he currently appears to have a severe case of systemic-wide Acne), but they have started to do so, and only await another Mana Surge or Spike (or maybe even a strong Mana Warp) to complete the process...

I guess that is what happens when you mess with magic that you do not completely understand...

Keep the Faith
