Say I want a Sleuth sprite to do some electronic warfare - find a drone's node and spoof a command for example. How can it find a hidden node? How can it intercept traffic? Does it need access to a device within Signal range? Or do sprites as Resonance beings automatically have access to wireless traffic?

The "Sprites and Node Access" section in Unwired isn't really clear on this. It says they can go anywhere, but not bypass firewalls they don't have access to, they have to hack them - but it doesn't really mention if it can still just take a Resonance short cut to the node to hack it, and how it can pick up wireless traffic or find hidden nodes isn't mentioned at all.

It needs to have access to a device with a signal rating. Once it has access to a device it can use the same tools to detect traffic and nodes that you do. Think of sprites and agents as electronic hackers. They are just like you, only they don't have a body. Oh, and agents are very literal and not very clever where as sprites are somewhat sapient and can tell you when something is a bad idea. If they like you.

To get into a node they don't have access to, sprites have to hack just like you or an agent. The shortcut only works when you call it to you or send it to somewhere you or it has already established access to. If you can legitimately access a node within hacking range of your target, the sprite is free to take a shortcut there and start the hack. Chances are that also means it could just go there like normal and the acts are functionally identical for sprites. It will however start to leave a trail once it gets into hacking the node and any nodes beyond. Also important to note that you can't shortcut into a node you've used exploit to access unless you used a slow hack and your GM is cool enough to call that a legitimate backdoor.
