Nihao.

I've been wondering, does anyone have (or know where to find) photomanipulations of SR creatures/races/characters? Or good examples of the same done with costumes or special effects (maybe movie or television examples)?

I've been trying to get a mental image of a SR ork or troll, and while the illustrations in the various books are great, they decidedly don't help the reality factor/suspension of disbelief for me.

What would an ork look like if I ran into one on the street? Where can I find a picture? The same goes for elves, trolls, dwarves, dragons, dryads, vampires, etc. (being visually oriented can be bothersome at times).

Domo,

R

*sigh*

Makes me wish we had a really good SR movie to refer new players to. Since we don't, you can sort of pick and choose your way through a slew of other films that have already been released.

Humans - look in a mirror
Elves - They look pretty good in LotR, I'd go with that
Dwarves - hate to use Gimli as an example, but it'll have to do
Orks - LotR again... something tamer than the Urukai maybe?
Trolls - that's a tough one... probably a mix between the Urukai and that dumb-looking Dr. Jeckyl in LXG. Add a ram horn or two and give it a lower jaw made to shovel dirt, voiyla!

The rest of the metas can probably be found in other films too. Some that come to mind: Night Ones (Nightcrawler, cut off the tail/X2), Cyclops (look to the masterful work of Ray Harryhausen - old school stop motion animator, ex: Clash of the Titans, 7th Voyage of Sinbad), Gnome (quite a few fantasy folk that fit this description in Willow)...

You get the idea. Look to cinema. :)

Actually, here. I'll make an offer. If anyone wants to supply me with a picture of themselves and their choice of metahuman race, I will goblinize them in Photoshop. *grin*

There were photos of "orks" and other races (I believe) in the London SB. Given that "copyright infringement" is bad, maybe getting Adam to put them on the SR website might be possible.

I concur. And, since I can never hype it enough, page 50 of the SSG. Go see.

Are we looking at the picture? If so, it's a good one - are you the artist or somesuch?

Heh, no. I'm just really fond of it and it's the best piece of Shadowrun illustration I've ever come across. And I have a tradition of mentioning it in every thread where this topic comes up.

Ok... I'll bite....

Orc-ify me!

heck I'll just post the pics and anyone who wants too can orc-ify it, then compare and contrast... or if you think I would fit another meta better do that too...

For those taking up Fahr's challenge, I'll give you extra points if you in some way goblinize his son :)

Since I'm no use at such things, no. But I gotta say that if someone changed the background scale a little and you grew a better beard, you'd make a kick-ass dwarf!

Cute kid too. ;)

What animals are you using for tusks? You could try walrus tusks. You'll want something that matches the general color of metahuman teeth.
