Hi there,

when i try to change anything under "My controls" -> "Personal Profile", like "Edit Signature" or "Edit Avatar Settings", i get an error message saying
QUOTE
You are not allowed to use this part of the board
. This account is brand new, should i wait a few hours so it fixes itself or is something wrong?

Thanks

edit: Oh, okay, i found something. 10 Posts to unlock these features, allright. Sorry for the unnecessary thread. Well, its a post for me, at least. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Self service at it's best. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Welcome to Dumpshock. Since you're not a spambot, I'll open up your membership for you.

Please proceed forward for your Dikoted Ally Spirit and Swordfish Mustardball. (No that shouldn't make any sense. Worry if it does.)

Edit: Damn you Method and your speed posting!
Reason for edit: Method smells funny ;)

I'm curious what you consider the "minimum". (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Has anyone given thought to a "Prove you are not a spam bot" thread? I'm not sure if it would do more harm than good or not.

I've been considering it. The mods could lurk in such a thread and bump people who are clearly not spam bots. If nothing else, new members could introduce themselves, meet some other noobs and lock down 10 posts before you know it.

Feel free to whip one up if you are inspired. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

By the by, is there a place to find all the new member restrictions and such? I didn't see it in the forum FAQ/General Rules/ToS, and would still be a completely clueless idiot (as opposed to my mostly clueless idiot norm) had I not tripped over this thread.

Not to my knowledge.
But that's what this board is there for.
Don't be afraid to ask. Most of us/them won't bite.

Hello, I'm also new on this board and this thing did confuse me at first. Took me some minutes to find the answer, as I suspected it was something like this. I'm used to changing these things when I create an account.

Thanks, and I understand, because spambots sucks.

Just saw Runicgames forum was invaded by a few this weekend (those who made the Torchlight game)
http://forums.runicgames.com/viewforum.php?f=5
(was not cleaned up at the time of this post)

Alright Buio, you've been released. Go and frollick among the teaming masses. Remember to pick up your dikoted ally spirit, and don't make us ban you for excessive use of swordfish mustardball or any other akward mix of seafood and condiments. Welcome to Dumpshock.

I will probably lurk a lot because I'm a newbie in town. I've not played a single session of Shadowrun yet, despite many years of gaming. But I picked up the game early last year (before 20th Anniversary Edition, which I bought later) and gonna run a game myself sometime soon.

If you do intend to play, I would suggest getting the Anniversary edition book. Besides the front cover being much easier on the eyes than the travesty of the regular core book, the entire looks great, thigns are easier to find, and the book is basically all around better in every way that I've seen. Even has shameless plugs for other SR core books. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) What's not to love?! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I ran into this as well, and couldn't find details in the suggested FAQ documentation. So, following the described method, and tried to contact the forum administrators...

In response I got:

QUOTE
Final-Recipient: rfc822;forums@dumpshock.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.1.1
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550 5.1.1 <forums@dumpshock.com>: Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table

This was, in the end a successful resolution, as I discovered this thread. Yet might not be expected behaviour... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
