I don't buy Urban Brawl as a real sport if it uses live ammo. But speaking of post-apocalyptic, dystopic games... I recommend Blood of Heroes. Rutger Hauer, Joan Chen, and it's played with a (fresh) bloody dog skull not a ball.

I'm personally wondering how the Olympics are treated. Do the corps get their own teams? And are Combat Biking and Urban Brawl considered Olympic sports?

What little I know about Combat Biking is that it's akin to the WWE of 2070. People watch it as much for the drama between teams than for the action itself. Urban Brawl may very well be the same.

Well I was considering a nonlethal version of a Urban Brawl to throw at my players. While it might be fun for the players to participate in a Urban Brawl game, I am looking more for behind the scenes information.

Things like :

- is it a major sport in 2072, or just a minor bloody affair?
- major national/corporate/city teams?
- is it played in stadions or just abandoned city blocks?
- augmented/awakened division or not?
- typical player salaries?
- restriction on 'ware / drugs / metatype...
- tournament types (elimination, groups, etc...)
- popularity of the sport?

Mostly about things you can base a shadowrun on, behind the scenes action. Getting dirt for a news team about a player affair with a troll joytoy, smuggling untraceable drugs to a teams doctor, spying on a team for their new tactic/strategy...

I recall some smatterings of information in the Sprawl Survival Guide. From what I recall of it, the corps have teams, the organization that plans it clears out a few city blocks in urban areas two days before the event, a fairly popular/major sport, and teams have been known to hire shadowrunners as ringers to take care of the dirty work while the more popular face players of the team get all the camera time.

TBH I'd be more tempted to actually sit down with folks and (re)make the game from scratch so we have the rules and such right there.

The most important thing is that hockey is still around and, apparently, Gary Bettman achieved NHL expansion beyond his wildest dreams since it is now called the INHL! They also STILL play for the Stanley Cup!

Quiet, you. I'm not content unless I'm plotting a heist or a new pastime.

It takes one to know one. We both know how many hobbies I've collected. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/spin.gif)

But, FoolProof will come to pass, even if one or both of us has to die in the process. We can include a chapter with Urban Brawl.

So what you're saying is that we need to (re)create the rules for Urban Brawl.

They should be based on a blend of the vehicle chase rules and the Matrix rules.

What. For a no-vehicle brawl?

Are you sure you don't mean Combat biking?

Or are you just messing with me. Don't mess with a man who has to check a four-inch stack of invoices by hand and check them off a list. I be crazy.

Crazy.

This movie is known as "Jugger" in Germany and in fact live-action Jugger games played with soft LARP-like weapons can be regularly found at bigger conventions...

LOL That's great! Thanks for letting me know! I always thought LARP was lame until it was used for Juggers. I can't wait to tell my group about this. We loved that movie.
