Catalyst Games allowed the publication of Eclipse Phase under Creative Commons, didn't it? I don't have any details on how that came about, but allowing a 7th Age crossover under CC gives Topps more visibility for Shadowrun in the same way Eclipse Phase gave visibility to Catalyst Games, so its win-win, isn't it?

Or it's a dilution of their copyright and causes issues.

You also have to remember that the Shadowrun copyrights and licenses are a complete mess. Because ownership of the Shadowrun intellectual property was split years ago over print and digital material (FASA kept the print rights, FASA Interactive took the digital rights), it gets real messy in the modern age where we have digital books. That makes anything involving Shadowrun licensing a real pain.

Eclipse Phase, being a brand new piece of intellectual property owned by Posthuman Studios, doesn't have these problems.

Us at Posthuman Studios pushed like hell to get Catalyst to understand why Creative Commons was beneficial in this case. I suspect that they, and Topps, have much bigger fish to fry right now.

But my joint-and-lack-of-hierarchy-parented child, Eclipse Phase, is back on Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/epamazon

Let's see... A group of Horrors breaks through the metaplane barrier through the Dissonance Realms. Finding themselves inside the Matrix, they possess military AI know as the TITANS. A rival Horror faction breaks into the physical plane through mana warps created by FAB III bacteria clouds, which it then possesses forming the Exurgent Virus. The two factions fight over the Earth. The TITANS create a physical gateway to the Horror Metaplane. However, it is sabotaged by runners. When it activates, it sucks the TITANS into the darkest reaches of time and space. FABIII Horror, now victorious, proceeds to feed off human misery and mana.

So would Posthuman Studios be interested in supporting pre-TITANS material if it didn't violate copyright issues? I understand that people can write them up on their own, but without a centralized place for people to work on and share their writing, individual projects are pretty much doomed to obscurity. The Source Forge has a very good organization setup to allow collaborative program writing, and it might be portable to a wiki-format for Eclipse Phase projects.

They do have a section of their official forums dedicated to fan-made material.

Ah, yes, that "research" thing we mentioned earlier. I'll try and be better about that. Thanks for the link.

Would it be possible to add a link under Fan Created Material called something like "Additional Histories"? Once something like that was written, of course.

The web page actually has more fan-created stuff on it, too: http://www.eclipsephase.com/resources

Make things, and the infrastructure will evolve around them. It's organic and evolving.
