Post or Die!, recruitment thread Options

I tried to start a game and it faded like like a cheap t-shirt. so I'm trying a new Idea, Post or die. the premise is, I set a number of posts per week, I think two (we all have lives). If seven days pass from your second to last post, your character is met with a dramatic and untimely death. I figure recruitment will run long, as well as the reserve list. The story might suffer, but It will probably be comical as well, If I have any takers, step right up. I think I'll keep it to 4-6 active players, we'll see how it goes

You may have noticed, but once there was a hint of an online game, I made some characters. Ok, a lot of characters. And then made them fight.

EDIT: I always ask my GM the same question: On a scale from 1 to 100, with 1 being shoving spoons into a jury-rigged shotgun to murder your dealer to get more BTLs, and 100 is a vat-grown super assassin, where should we fall? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cyber.gif)

I've stopped making characters(online). I started putting the same ones in all the games that start up. then the game dies, and the character is open for a new game. But hey, if your character dies, you can get the next one on the reserve list (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Dennis Rend, a.k.a. "Scar"

Concept: Troll Organlegger/Muscle/Interrogator

Appearance: He's an enormous, hulking beast of a troll, and ugly even by trog standards. His face is a mass of old, twisted scar tissue. His prominent tusks jut out obtrusively and give him a brutish appearance even compared to others of his kind. His horns curve backwards off the top of his head and behind his skull. His appearance is typically unkempt and dirty, wearing ragged vending machine flats that have since started to biodegrade.

Background

In the deepest, darkest heart of the Redmond Barrens, there is no law or civilization. In fact it's fair to say that complete anarchy reigns there. It is Survival of the Fittest magnified, exaggerated, perverted, and turned into an untamed, slavering beast. The denizens of this shameful, blighted wasteland have adopted various survival strategies. Some band together for protection or for plunder. And some others adopt a feral, "whatever it takes" mindset from childhood, figuring that it is their strength and ability to impose their will on others that allows them to make it in this world.

Dennis Rend, a.k.a. "Scar" is one of those. He was born to troll parents, but even his parents succumbed to the torments of the Barrens. From an early age he learned to fight - and kill - for whatever he needed to survive. Since there is no food in the Barrens he learned not to be picky; he simply ate whatever was nearby, be it devil rats or other metahumans. He has more than once fought ghouls over a corpse in order to merely sustain himself, becoming in some regards more ghoulish than the infected of the area.

He attained a massive size from a fortuitous combination of racial phenotype and having perservered through innumerable tests thrown at him during his lifetime in the Barrens. This enabled him to weather most storms and survive attempts to take his life and turn him into prey. He does, however, bear many scars along his body, especially on his face, which is heavily lined and distorted from years of trauma.

Having such an affinity and familiarity with carrion, he soon bumped into area organleggers and Tamanous operatives. Rather than squander such a resource as Scar, they enlisted him both for his lack of restraint, his skill set, and his knowledge of anatomy. He would routinely find fresh meat for the organleggers and deliver bodies to them in return for food and other goods. When they began giving him money in the form of credit in a shadow bank account, Scar then began leaving the dangerous inner Barrens and exploring the outside city.

He still ekes out a meager existence, but he has been getting advances on his "deliveries" to Tamanous, which enabled him to obtain some low-grade cyberware. Meanwhile, he has started to see that there is a larger world with greater opportunities in the city beyond the Barrens, and his sights are now set higher.

He doesn't fit in with this newly discovered world, and he has found himself at odds with a more polite and civilized society that looks poorly on his... "methods." For the first time in his life he is having to practice restraint when out among others... But what others cannot see, they cannot know...

Count me in. I have several characters ready to go. I'm travelling across Canada next week and it could be fun to scramble for a hotel with internet that works just to keep my PC alive! Though, now that I think about it, I suspect you may not actually get started that soon.

I think with the spontaneous combustion of characters or random fireballs or what not, This is going to be kind of a pink mohawk setting.... so *gulp* Bring it on. (Don't expect me to be super knowledgeable on those though).

As for Dr Z's qeustion...I don't see why a super assassin wouldnt enjoy shotgun spoons as much as the next guy.
I'm usually a champion of low powered and gritty games. But this game goes to 11. (If you don't get that reference, you have homework to do)

and best part is, if for some reason i get horribly busy (2 posts a week doesn't sound *too* hard to keep up with), i get to add to the game with a comical death... it's like taking the bloody mess quality in fallout 2 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
