Once more the world takes a step closer to having smartlinked guns
Would be nice to get to shoot a rifle with a scope that contains both of those think mentioned there. |

-- So it's a scope with integrated laser rangefinder and wind compensator? The only novel aspect appears to be the latter.

The only novel aspect appears to be the latter. combine that with the other scope's mentioned in the article ability to show how much your bullets is gonna drop in the given distance and you make long range shooting a helleva lot easier. |

Yeah, ballistics tables are basically a known with any rifle you can shoot in a controlled setting. There's no reason a soldier has to do bullet drop math anymore. I've been waiting for something like this to hit the field.

For long range shooting, the good old fashioned "image scope" or "image magnification" vision is a better piece of tech (in terms of potential benefit) than the smartlink. The think that is impressive about the smartlink is that it gives a fairly hefty bonus even at very short ranges, where windage and bullet drop are irrelevant. It a great CQB tool. I don't see this getting any closer to such a benefit (though it would certainly be a nice feature in an imaging scope).
