Hello everyone, I am BloodCarver and my favorate character archetype is the rigger. I have played SR since SR1ed but culminated in SR3ed. I am even now trying to wrap my squash around the new Wireless World of SR4ed and the combining of riggers and deckers = hackers/technomancers. Not really succeding in conversion of my Sr3ed characters or know where to start with a SR4ed character... I am drone orientated(to quote "DGIF") ever since my meat bod got chewed up pretty bad on a run(It is bad when the mage and rigger on Overwatch is dragging your Combat monsters' hoops out of the fire. LOL)- we had a very Evil GM(is there any other?)- well we reaped what we sowed on that run. I had a group of "challenged" players. Some didn't quite get the whole professionalism/ethics thing. I don't mind Pink Mohawk style of gaming, but these guys were not even trying.(too much D&D -hack n slash mindsets). But hey I got to play SR and they weren't always at the extreme end of things.

But what if I am a spambot, programmed to think I'm an ordinary poster?

Damn, don't know why I didn't see this thread sooner.

Hullo, I'm Squiddy, and I'm relatively new to Shadowrun. I play a twitchy, excessively-overcaffeinated hacker (though that's sort of typical, isn't it?).

I wish I had a good spambot joke to make here but, alas, my wit has deserted me.

Been wondering how to get off probation, thought the court released me years ago...

I haven't really played Shadowrun in around 15 years, since second edition. I recently started getting back into roleplaying, and did quite a bit of research into the games I used to play to see where they stood these days. I'm not going to get into the 4e D&D mess; suffice it to say that I decided on Shadowrun to break myself back in. I have many fond memories of 2E, and 4A looked pretty good. I got the SR4A book about a week ago, and have been devouring it ever since. This site has been a great reference, and I check it most days. Usually it just makes me feel lost and out of touch, thanks to how much the game has changed in 15 years. I'm about ready to find a group though, and I plan on using Dumpshock like a crutch to help get me back into the swing of things.

Good thread, these are always good for intros and getting off probation. I was a long term member but left for awhile and couldn't remember my password or email address.

Hi y'all. I got free viagra laced with mind control pills. When it fails to work, you won't sue because the mind control pills work! I'll get to run my own shadowrun against myself.

Ok on a more serious note. I am new to Shadowrun and new to the forums. I'll even pass the Turing Test. I hope so anyway, otherwise I am a very well-designed robot unaware of my robotness.

shorttime shadowrun player, shorttime shadowrun GM, longtime DnD player/DM

I've started playing missions at my local store in Nebraska under Galen to get a better handle of the flow and rules before my own group gets into a serious schedule, and I am registering to supplement this knowledge with answers to my rules/settings questions from a big cuddly database of users.

My players started SR more than me. I don't care what book's in front of me I just want to run SOMETHING. Designing fun characters, scenes, and setups is very enjoyable to me, fantasy, horror, scifi, or cyberpunk. I grew up with DnD because my dad and brothers played it, but my friends didn't have that. We're all 19-20 and my peers just relate to this more. If I wasn't going to be running DnD I might as well use an entirely new system to make things exciting rather than yet another D20 ruleset. I could tell I hit gold with SR when my players fought over my first 4e book just looking at the combat rules and weapons they could be using whereas magical swords and spell effects meant little to them.
