Ok... Licenses... How much do they cost? Not the fakes. I'm making a SINner, so I'd like to know where to find actual license costs.

Ah yes... we had a discussion about that a while ago... hm hm.

Well it isn't stated anywhere. So the people ruled it like that:

Nothing (It's in the price of getting the stuff legaly)

OR GM's choice: Let the player pay.

OR a fixed amount (Likely a % of a full illegal copy of high rating license)

OR your employer pays for most stuff, you just do some courses and done *g*

And so on. Many suggestions. I for myself would just take a number similar (but a good bit higher) than todays prices. Maybe a yearly fee for cyberware which may help getting a job and such. (You know, to bar people from getting rich unexpectedly)

Also it will depend on the citizenship/overlord of the subject.

Thanks. I'll have to talk to my new GM about it.

With a legit non-criminal SIN I would say covered by lifestyle same as a drivers license and such (just lots of paperwork at times... though ARES citizens get carry permits just by breathing)

Otherwise you have to buy a fake one for a criminal SIN or no SIN (need a fake SIN as well to link the license too)

Don't know how accurate it actually would be, but we usually just split the cost in half. And we really only use licenses for things that might not automatically come with our lifestyle purchases (this of course, only applies to SINners). But since most of us have a crap load of illegal goods that you can't even get a legit license for unless your god, our usual tactic is just not to get caught.... works so far.

Funny, I never even considered someone with corp citizenship in specific corps might have different right/costs but it makes sense.

Permits vary a lot by jurisdiction. Manhattan is a good example of a place that allows almost everything, but regulated. You can get a permit for using cocaine or carrying an assault rifle. Not so much in Seattle, or wherever. And, you could have a carry conceal permit on Ares property that would not carry over the second you stepped off into the streets of the city.

This isn't quite explicited in the rules, so a lot of it may depend on your GM'S thoughts.

When searching use the advanced option and make sure to use the older then 30 days, or more.

Lifestyle costs are good for non restricted items, essentially free for a SINner.

I'd say that an Illegal license is a digital cert which, like a morphing license plate, can alter automatically or manually to fit the location or the lie.

A legal license, however, would only apply on the territory in which it is issued, and any territory with an agreement of mutual recognition. So, maybe Ares and the UCAS both recognize the same gun license as being legitimate, but if you're in the PCC, the heat will still make you hand over the guns.
