I'm looking for 4-6 players for a 500BP black ops game. Working for a AA corp. The campaine is still in the air plot wise so more on that later. So who's interested.

Sounds neat. Rarely do I get to play "Vat-Grown Super Assassins"; this may be one of those rare opportunities! I will admit however that my munchkin-fu is weak compared to some of the others here on DS (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wobble.gif)

EDIT: I need to learn some self control. I'm already playing in 3 PbP games; if you can't generate enough interest let me know, but otherwise I should probably sit this one out (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I am Interested too. I would like to play a mage for a change. How Black are those Ops supposed to be? Will the corp provide us with gear and licenses, or will we have to get them from contacts the usual way? Will we be issued corporate SIN?

I'm very interested. I've had a couple of builds floating around in my head for awhile that would be perfect for this. Anything you're restricting book wise? Or metatypes/variants?

Well black-ops are notonly invloved in interenal affiars but also in external missions where an open corp presence isn't a no no or those needing loyal forces.
Gear I'm still pondering but likely via in corp soruces for gear that isn't desposable/traceable. Licenses and SIN you are corp citizens so so they will be handled.

So far no big no-nos bar I'm haing a hard time seeing how freesprits/AIs would get a black-ops placement. As always I have to power of NO.

I'm considering all players getting SINer and trust-fund 2 free to represent basic corporate citizenship and salary. Still this is perliminary. The same aplys to gaer in chargen I might set it to 450BP and give you all starting funds after making the core PC so no resources in Chargen.

Contacts will still be useful legwork wise and corps are big so contacts in the corp its self might help. If any one has the corporate guide it has a lot of info of life inside the corps and such. Most people in black ops started lower down on the corporate security ladder. Though some are ex-runners that have proven them selves loyal to the corp.

Things are still in the air BP wise and suhc so don't go much feather than concepts for now.

As a side I will likely include stuff from War and Attitude when they are realised.

I was thinking of a gunslinger adept, sort of a 2070s cowboys, though how exactly he got into black ops I'm not sure. How's the concept?

I would love to give this one a try. It sounds like an interesting change of balance from the outside of the corp norm.

I can think of several general ideas that might be fun. Heavy bio-ed James Bourne type for example, or any of several other ideas. I will have to see what I can come up with for you.

I was thinking of running a Elven Technomancer/Face, technoshaman with a passion for antique tech. Or an Ex-Military Ork with two children at home with mouthes to feed.

Well insperrations for the game include perfect dark as well as a few other cyberpunk novels ect. I'm thinking stealth and subity will be a part of it. Also guys more so that any SR game the dymancis of your team will effect your jobs. A socilay based team will likely be used in high threat negoiations. Better to have negoisators that can stand there own then ones that can't.

More speficicaly it's ok but maybe a bit too kick down the door but hard to tell. I think a good question would be woudl your corp trust you in some of most sensative operations.

A list of things you coudl be hired to do to set the mood:
Counter extraction.
HTR-likely a on call type of job.
Escort/Bodyguard work for in extream cases either high high profile or high threat likely working with the more focused bodyguard teams.
Internal runs.
Headhunting.-likely legal and above board but things can still go wrong.
There's more but that's good list to get you thinking.

I was thinking about the guy from Justified: basically, an awesome gunman, but who only draws the weapon when necessary, not an "violence is the answer to everything" kind of guy. But I understand if it's too over the top.

Another character concept just popped into my mind as well. So as of now, my list of possibilities is looking like. (I'll probably keep editing this one post as I get more concepts in mind as to not bog down everything)

-Elf Technoshaman with love of old school tech
-Ex Military Ork with kids at home
-Human Assassin, with a bad past that he's trying escape

I'm willing to alow AI/cyborgs AI juts have soem backstory wangling to do like Freespirts. Nothings ruled out fully just it needs to make sense as to how it got in to the corp.

I definitely think you have interest for a game like this. Would we be working with a canon AA Corp, or one you create? And would we be in any sprawl specifically, or wherever the corp needs us to go?

As for the corp Likely a homebrew. We are really lacking on the AAs, corp guide updates some but other will have come and gone with the crash. I might well go with a canon one as I've said I was looking for intrset to build on a small base. So you guys my prospective players can shape a lot right now. Much more than you could ina few weeks when I start more work.

You'll likely be set in a sprawl-ish as you will be on a as need placement. Again its a player thign there too you guys want to move around a lot stay practically set in some Archology or to move about enough.

As it stand I'm seeing you guys having a set base in X sprawl with you corp payed high lifestyle there ect. With Jobs as needed. I've been pondering gear adn I think 500BP 75BP resource limit and a high availability cap will work for the power level. Also I shall treat the black-op devistion as a form for group contact quite loyal to you around 4-5 thus alowing a good amount of loned equipment or supplied info but for major dirt ot huge lones you might have to do a bit more.

So far we have in drying cerment(not quite stone yet)
500BP 75BP cap on resources
SINer and Trustfund 2 already given and likely records on file(though IDK if that will ever come up unless you go rouge)

Trust-fund is an easy way to supply a good base payment from to corp to you minor change will be made to its lay out but expect it pay out on that level.


We have four so as soon as I pick a good avalibility cap and the serment drys we can really start char gen. I dont think I'll rase the cap by more than 8 tops likely just to 18 with restricted gear to 26.

SO now a few questions to you about what tone and such you are after. It's allabout us having fun (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)
I guess I shall warn you you will have a handler/handleign team and due to this they will likely end up GMPCs of some form. Not Mary Sue but in the same way the long runnign fixer or J dose. Denpeding on team layout this person/team may even do overwatch where possable more so on internal jobs then external.

One last thing you guys are all green to the black op division and I'm guessing long term corp citizens of the loyal type. It's really hard to envision any dissident bodies really getting a black-ops placement. ICly IDK how I'm going to handle this are you transferred with out knowing, yet or do you go though selection and some training. The later seams more likely but even then a cunning corp could do both...

Also to make it clear its still open for 2 more places. And Resvers have an easy way to add you to game if some one drops out ect. Also all my contact info is on my profile if you want to drop me a line via IM ect.

The Handler or Handler team make perfect sense given the setting, I would expect nothing other than that. Even as in-house Black Ops, somebody has to manage us and the CEO probably wants at least one cut out.

I am seeing this as much more black trench-coat and spy vs spy than anything else. In order to get the maximum bang for the buck, the Corp would want us to be able to pass in public and not cause a riot from terror and shock. Very James Bond.

One question comes to mind, how are you wanting to handle the Matrix/Hacking stuff? Handwavium or RAW?

Considering joining. Is that 500 BP + 75 for resources (total 575) or 500 BP & up to 75 can be spent on resources (still total 500)?
Also, are the SINer/Trust Fund 2 already calculated into that 500 BP, or are those required to be built in?
I'm pretty flexible on character types - what do you still need?

I'll either "hand wave" with some one on the handeing team running matrix where posable or run it RAW with a dedicated PC the latter is easyer for me planing wise.

500 BP & up to 75 can be spent on resources.
Already calculated they are such an inbuilt part of the campine one being a preconfigured part of the job as a basic on call income.

As for types I think dedicated hacker EW and mage are in the ball park of needed. But I dont think any ones solid on their ideas yet.

As for the fitting in part you guy could well be required to bodyguard in certain cases. The corp like all will still have its own bodyguard wing so you would be working with but you guys are above their skill level they are as of corp guide about 400BP excluding exterem veriation such as corp owners guards.

You guys are part of a much bigger machine so I would recommend kind of picking an area of work. I have in my mind right now more physical work and less leggwork based missions. As it seams to be the way the chars have fallen so far.

So I spent a chunk of to tday that I didnt spend completing crackdown 2 or writing part of a short story. Think about char gen and house rules.

So House rules as of now cloud be some more might end up comign across them as needed.


Adept Powers: These are taken from my own moderations plus FrankTrollman's we ended up quite similar and the other changes he made made sense one word I'm yet to really go threw all of them as I cn't find my .txt file atm there are some other changes. But to what powers and what are currently foggy.
  • Improved Ability This power should cost just .25 points regardless of the type of skill.
  • Improved Physical Attribute This is way too expensive. Sure it doesn't cost Essence, but it may as well, and having it cost more than the cheap and Essence unfriendly ware is off the hook. It should cost only .5/level. Even then it's pretty sketchy compared to the actual high end ware like delta grade Muscle Toner (.4 Essence for +4 to a physical attribute). But at least it doesn't come up on a blood test.
  • Multi-TaskingThe two Free Actions per IP apply all the time. (when are you using combat turns out of combat?)
  • Natural Immunity This ability is incredibly unattractive, a victim of the current power rules. Every level should reduce the power by one rather than increasing the resistance dicepool by one.
  • Pain Resistance: Damage penalties are a lot less exciting than they used to be, as they no longer modify target numbers. Paying 1.5 Power Points for a conditional +1 die is just silly. Pain Resistance should reduce damage modifiers rather than altering the number of effective damage boxes you've sustained. So a character with Rating 2 Pain Resistance should be able to sustain 6 boxes of damage with no penalty.
  • Distance Strike Costs .5 Power Points, and it's really not that exciting even then.
  • Elemental Strike There is absolutely no reason to keep people from combining this with distance strike.
  • Gliding This costs too much, an should be reduced to a .5 power.
  • Iron Guts Costs .5 and gives the character straight Immunity to Ingested Toxins.
  • Iron Lungs 30 seconds is physically impressive for a normal human mortal, but seriously this is a world with compressed air tanks an Oxygenate spells. The new version costs 1 Power Points and straight up lets the adept get by without breathing at all.
  • Power Swimming .5 PP
    Traceless Walk This costs too much and should be reduced to a .5 power.
    Wall Running This costs too much and should be reduced to a .5 power.

Also can take an extra PP instead of a meta-magic.

Char gen. This is final now sorry for a biggish change.
500bp
1bp= 20,000nuyen max Yes you can take up to a mill of gear, enjoy (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) .
the easy way with skills 2 time the normal cap so 2 max, 1 max 2 max-1 or 4 max-1
First maxed atribute costs just 10
Magic and Resonance should cost a flat 10 points whether they are the current maximum or not.
Not max rating rule.
Base advisability 20 with restricted gear going to 28.
Beta+ ware available with every grade above standard at a higher availability as such:
  • Alpha +2
  • Beta +4
  • Delta +10

The Magic(Mage, Adept, Mystic adept, kacks, and astral sight) and Techonmacer Quailtys dont count to the 35BP cap on quailitys.
Any posative qualitys over the 35BP cap cost 2x as much and are subject to much more scurenty.
Gear can be modified in char gen for the cost in arsenal and other sources. Over modding can be alowed again its a GM looksie issue and negatives could well come in to play.
I think that's all for now.

Also if you need me to get the rest of the changes to adpet powers ASAP messages some how. I am out tomorrow but I will be back thursday if not wed night.
