I was just thinking of making another account to operate as the rep for Shadow Wars and then doing an ad. Maybe I missed part of the conversation, but are you talking about creating a second account on DSF? I know a some people who created alternate accounts, and used the same IP and got literally banned (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sarcastic.gif) So yea, just saying. |

Is anybody currently playing in the IC thread without a GM? Unsound, are there any people I should be eyeballing (aside from you, of course)?

I know one person on here who is doing it fairly obviously (to my knowledge), but he is just doing so to make his postings easier to follow, which is all I plan. I'll go double check the ToS to see if multiple accounts are disallowed. |

Hmm, yep, against ToS, that's a shame. Oh well.

I'm sort of twisting in the wind at the moment. I got in a little late to get in on the action at Penumbra earlier. |

Abs: Mask and Doc, our two newest recruits, are currently not in the middle of anything. Thanks for stepping up to bat for them! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Speaking of Mask, your little intro didn't say where she is or what time it is there, Karoline. Perhaps a little after 9pm in Loveland, Puyallup? <wink wink, nudge nudge> Also, unsound is there a standard set of colors in use for speech, thoughts and commlink chatter? |

I've just been using the good ole standard English writing conventions of putting speech in quotes, thoughts in italics, and haven't done any commlink chatter yet, but I'll probably go with #text. But that's just 'cause I'm a lazy bastard...there are other games running in this forum that have a whole system of color coding set up to make it easier to distinguish between the different mediums of communication, so you can go copy that if you want. Oh yeah, before I forget, Important Announcement™! I'll be traveling to South Dakota this Saturday and will be there for the next two weeks hanging out with friends and watching bikers get into fights and drink copious amounts of alcohol at this year's Sturgis Rally. My internet access will be spotty during my stay there - I'll still pop in from time to time for general chatter in the OOC thread, but I probably would not be able to make very many IC posts. What does this mean for you? Hopefully, absolutely nothing! Remember, folks, this is your game, I'm just the bookkeeper. You can totally have your character do stuff and make scenes happen with other characters even when I'm not here. I'm going to wrap up any scenes I'm doing with you guys this week, and any persistent story threads will remain open-ended - for example, Dahlia and co are about to take a job where they have to track down some runaway Shadow Wars candidates, but you guys will have a rather large window of time to get it done (depending on how soon Karoline kick starts her game (IMG:style_emoticons/default/spin.gif) ), and you can totally do other stuff until you find a lead on one of your marks.
To encourage you all to post for one another and remain active, the next two weeks will officially be triple rewards weeks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Normally, any amount of activity during a one week period would earn you 1 karma and ¥2500. During a triple rewards week, you earn that amount for every two posts, up to a maximum of six posts per week. Which means if you post once or twice that week, you get 1 karma and ¥2500, if you post three or four times, you get 2 karma and ¥5000, if you post five or six times, you get 3 karma and ¥7500, and if you post seven times...well, I will love you forever, but you still get the same amount because we gotta draw the line somewhere. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Post with your character, post with a random NPC talking to another random NPC at the local stuffer shack, post as a GM to initiate cool scenes for other players, it doesn't matter what it is, if it's IC it will count. Triple rewards week 1 will begin Monday 8/9 and end Monday 8/16. Triple rewards week 2 will begin Monday 8/16 and end Monday 8/23. Have at it. |

That's cool. I might dabble at GMing, while screwing around in some IC posts with Ultima. Maybe somebody will write up a little something for me, but either way I'm cool.
If anybody is waiting for some GMing let me know. I'm happy to to do some individual scenes. |

Silk is roleplaying at a roleplaying game so that could get quite surreal fast! I'm open for some action 'later in the day' as I seem to be lagging a bit behind everyone else...and I still haven't read through everyone's posts so I probably only have myself to blame...
See you in the IC thread A |

We're still making our way through introductions, but neither of us has a GM working a scene for us. |

If you fast forward to when Aria is done I'll see about throwing something at her. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Wherever and whenever you want to place her, I'll use your writing as a springboard and we'll see where we go from there. Also: I never rolled my starting nuyen for Ultima. unsound, when I get home I'm going to do that. Edit: 3d6+1 → [1,3,5,1] = (10) 10*50 = 500 starting (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) |

So, unsound said that some people are having a bit of trouble accepting Mask's sheet, and I totally understand that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) . I had a bunch of personal debates while making the character myself, and am going to go back and redistribute stuff some. I would however like to point out that 1) she took more than 35 points of disadvantages, but didn't actually use any of the points over the 35. I took those extras purely for RP reasons and didn't claim any mechanical advantage out of it. 2) she isn't designed to be a runner, which is why she lacks combat/infiltration type skills. She is supposed to be a person who is a gifted TM and so has focused on that most of her (short) life, not a runner who happens to be a TM, or even a TM who happens to be a TM. Still, I will be changing stuff slightly. I at least want her to have a basic idea of how to use her shock gloves for self defense, and I'm going to be distributing her agility around her physical stats a bit more, and might drop her int a couple points.
So, no hard feelings, because you guys (unsound mentioned no names) simply confirmed something I was already feeling, so thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Edit: and since she started with no lifestyle since her paragon doesn't let her pay for one, starting money is...Starting cash x10 (1d6=1) Woo, 10 credits starting cash (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Yep, especially considering they are both TMs, though they are quite different personalities. Hey, it happens. I was wondering if you'd made some alterations to her when I wasn't looking. Until I looked at the sheet I thought Mask was conning me with the blind bit, though I gather she is a bit of a cyber-grifter. p.s. Please don't infect Doc's hand with a virus that causes uncontrollable rude gestures. He's only got an etiquette of 1, so he'd have a rough time with that. "Uh, I've got Cyber-Tourettes?" <weak smile> |

If she was B Bandit she'd already be in control of your home node, personal commlink, hidden commlink, and basically anything else that it is possible to hack into. She likely wouldn't do anything with them mind you... |

Software 2 + Analytical Mind 2 + Resonance 6 + VR 2 = 12 threading Spoof (12d6.hits(5)=5) Raises Spoof to 11
Resonance 6 + Logic 6 = 12 Resist Fading (12d6.hits(5)=3) 2P Fading taken. Spoof 11 + VR 2 + Hacking 2 + Allas 2 = 17 spoofing lifestyle (17d6.hits(5)=7) Working towards Middle, which requires 12. Assuming 8 hours of work constitutes a 'day' so at the end of that time Mask will actually go to sleep (around 6am). Will wait to see what time she is woken before attempting any healing tests. Not sure if the time spent on the matrix counts or not since the body is resting, but the mind is not, though it is the body that needs to heal. |

With unsound on vacation, do we just play our own contacts?
(within reason obviously. My Fixer won't magically get me free Synaptic Boosters or anything like that) |

Hello! I wanted to inquire about how newb friendly this particular game is. I've been playing pen and paper rpgs for about 15 years but I only played Shadowrun a couple of times, and that was 3rd ed about 10 years ago or so. I'd like to get involved in a couple games here as a player and GM (eventually) just want to make sure I won't be inconveniencing the GM or players as I learn mechanics. Thanks for your time. (Yes I posted this in another thread with the same inquiry, not spam. Just copypasta.)
