Is there room for a hermetic mage in this group?
I've a character I've not played in 10 years I'd like to get back to. I've rebuilt him from his 3e to 4e. He had earned 30 Karma and 26K in Nuyen. I can play with or without the Karma/cash he'd earned. |

Here is The Doctor. Entries in parantheses were added during gameplay with my last group using earned Karma. Please check my math.
Original: 3e character using standard chargen 4e ReBuild: 400 points Real Name: Martin Callaghan Street Name: The Doctor Character History: Martin holds a Ph.D. in mana-spell theory from the University of Illinois in the Urbana-Champaign sprawl. He'd grown up with his father, a professor of Thaumaturgy at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, telling him stories about his days before his rescue from the streets by his mentor. He'd been a street wizard on his way to burn-out and run the Shadows of Seattle. His mentor, Dr. Gottsring, had found and rescued him after a run which had killed most of his team. Shortly before Martin was to start a teaching job at a small college in Pennsylvania, he received a dream-sending from his father. The dream-sending told him that this was to happen only upon his unnatural death. The dream told Martin that it was likely he'd been murdered for an ancient grimoire he'd found on that last run. He'd kept it hidden for years and always feared someone would track him down for it. He charged Martin to find the book, destroy it if he could--hide it well if he couldn't. His father told him to first seek his old friend, Loftus, a talismonger in Seattle...to say that Martin was a friend of his. The next morning, Martin woke to a phone call from the St. Louis police. As the dream-sending had told him, the police said his father had been murdered-his blodd drained completely and the body mutilated with heretofore unknown symbols. Forensic mages had determined ritual sorcery was at play. The police would let Martin know more as they discovered it...but no leads presented themselves. Months rolled past and Martin did some digging on his own. He discovered that years before; several murders like that of his father had occurred in Seattle. He left his comfortable teaching job and sold most of his belongings. He packed up and went to Seattle. Martin managed to finagle his way into the underworld of shadowrunning in the hopes of tracking clues about his father's murderers and the whereabouts of the mysterious grimoire. Your BP expenditures for your spirits are incorrect. When you spend BP to start with prebound spirits, you get them at a Force equal to your magic rating. Each point of BP is 1 service they owe you. So basically you have two Force 5 spirits, and they owe you 1 and 2 services, respectively.

Yes. We need a mage. Badly. I am more than willing to "bump into" The Doctor somehow; say, on a surveillance run or something.

Need any more mages?
I saw Doc Chase posted up Doctor Who, but I have a somewhat different idea based on a character I played a long time ago. Character is a troll shaman with cyberarms - I'm more of a maxmin player than a minmaxer. Backstory is that she lost her arms in an explosion that also killed her father. Originally, this was a bomb or runner attack, then I read Dahlia's background which hinted she might have caused the explosion that killed her father and thought to myself, 'What if there were more casualties?' Let me know and I'll post up stats and background. |

haah? Oh no, that wasn't me. I've been considering what to do with an AI Face that's been percolating in the back of my mind. The trouble here is that Dumpshock's got six or seven of us Docs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

I've been told that 'it must be done'. The idea of having an AI emerge from motivational speaking software and inhabiting an emotitoy...amused me.

I personally think the AI rules (and the Free Spirit rules) are crap. They're not particularly balanced with any of the chargen systems, and they seem a bit kludged in without much regard for the canon or fluff. And truth be told, AIs seem a little...boring to play.
I'd love to play a free spirit, if the rules weren't so awful. |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I'm going on vacation next Friday...and I'd be completely out of contact for 10 days. I think I will wait to start posting till I come back. I don't want to hold up the game at all (unless unsound wants to NPC me or sideline me somehow during my downtime). |

I'm still interested in getting involved in 2072 and present Copperhead, a female troll snake shaman with obvious cyberarms and dermal plating.

For all people submitting new characters, we have a new character sheet template that you'll need to conform to. The example provided is Ultima's sheet - to use the template, just quote this post, copy the formatting, and change the values specific to your character. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Also, I would like to say that I've seen some great GMing going on in the IC thread, and would totally like to see more of you GM for one another. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Our player base is slowly getting bigger and bigger, and I anticipate that a lot of my time with this game is going to be spent on administrative duties in the future, so GM posts from me won't be coming as frequently as they used to. I'll still write whenever I can, but my main job is going to be running and maintaining this platform - like I've said, this is your game, so don't hesitate to take the wheel! Doctor: The character looks good, but you'll have to roll back his karma since this is a new game, though it looks like you kept track of his expenditures so this shouldn't be a problem. Also, when you find the time, please convert his sheet to the format posted above. Thanks! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Could someone please explain the Physical and Mental CM notation? I'm still learning 4e...just bought the book. |

Affirmative on the nuyen. CM stands for condition monitor, which is how many boxes you have on your respective damage track. Stun CM is calculated by 8 + Willpower/2 and Physical CM is calculated by 8 + Body/2, and I believe you round up.

You might want to put the character sheet into your Database thread unsound. Otherwise it's just going to get buried in lost in this thread.

Yeah, it was cumbersome to write "Physical Condition Monitor Boxes" out, so I just truncated it.
