While I'm working on getting a storyline together for Scar, and whomever else I drag into it, I wanted to get a character submitted as well. He's a work in progress. I've got to type up his physical description and a background story on him, yet.
He's a young ex-con ganger learning to be a hermetic mage [ Spoiler ]

Name: William McClintock Alias: Ink, Billy Metatype: Human ... ... ... Attributes (200 BP + 65 Magic +0 Edge) Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure you have 1 Edge. Everybody has at least 1. As Starship put it, "You'd burst into flames from unluckiness if you had 0 Edge." |

Yes, you silly person - I spent 0 on Edge, giving me an edge stat of 2. In much the same way as I spent 65 on Magic, giving me a 6 stat. Though I must say I like the idea that, at Edge 0, you're likely to spontaneously combust. While pumping gas. On the day they're filling the tanks. |

Gamer manifest has been updated.
@J. Packer: I'll go over your character today. Meant to yesterday but work beckoned. |

@J. Packer: Your character has been added.
@Everyone: I’ve been thinking about how to handle large purchases without upsetting the balance of power in 2072 and promoting fairness across the board. This is what I have come up with. The last week of each IRL month will be the players opportunity to make a major purchase. The player may choose an item that interests them and purchase it at a drastic discount. The way you get it is irrelevant. It could be from a contact, your mother might have had one stashed under her bed, or the mafia might have kidnapped you and shoved it in your body for shits and giggles. Justify it however you want to. The cost will be two-fold. *Nuyen cost will be 10-25% of the list price. *The player needs to have IC posted as a player or GM, at least 3 out of the 4 weeks of that month. (Including the request week) Exceptions will be publicly stated on a case by case basis for transparency; if any. This will accomplish a few things. 1. It will promote people participating or launching their own plots. 2. It will open access to high end items to players that are participating, not just one-shotters. 3. It will limit the flow of high end items into the game that could potentially allow twinking. 4. Rewards long-term players for their continued dedication to the game. The only con I can think of is it will put new players slightly under the curve. Which honestly, I don’t really give too much of a shit about. The players aren’t killing each other so it is largely irrelevant to me. System in Action: Trigger the Rigger (god I’m clever) wants to acquire a facility to build and produce some drones in. He’s posted every week in the last month so he puts the word out through a contact of his with the city that he is looking for a facility which runs ¥100,000 as per the corebook. Contact calls back later and has found a property that has been sitting in a sea of red tape for quite some time due to zoning issues. The contact informs him that for ¥25,000; he can grease the wheels of the government and Trigger can move into his new Facility in short order. Thoughts, suggestions, complaints? |

Sounds good to me...roll on that bioware (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Will probably have to wait for the end of Jan though as I'm unlikely to be posting over the holiday, ah well (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) |

Before I kick off a side plot for Scar/Grimm, are there any other active players who are not embroiled in the fight at the housing complex that want to be dragged into something else?

Actually Aria, I'd probably give everyone present a request starting out since we've been going for awhile and I know some of you have been waiting for this information. After that initial one, then we'd revert to end of the month.
Also not going to worry too much about holidays. I view a lot of these things as GM discretionary. I just don't see a reason to put everything down since I'm one of the most anal retentive people I know about fairness even for people I don't like/agree with. I mostly just wanted to get feedback before I instituted it as a policy. |

Grimm:
AStarshipForAnts will be unavailable for a few days to a week due to hospitalization. To nip things in the bud, ASFA's recovering but I don't have many details beyond that at this time. |

It being Dahlia's apartment (and little brother) in the first place, I would feel...remorseful...if we utterly destroyed it (and him) without "permission". |

I'm stilling toying with thoughts of a synaptic booster and perhaps enhanced articulation bioware but not entirely sure whether that would screw my magic (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) |

As I understand it, it will affect your magic. Bioware has an Essence cost, it is just less intrusive than cyberware so you lose less Essence. And you always round down according to the corebook. So any augmentation is going to have a negative affect on your Magic. From the looks of Adepts it would result in a power point reduction that would need to be accounted for.

But I've already lost a point from existing cyber so it depends on the essence cost...I might just squeeze the booster in to the point of essence I've already lost and so have no effect on magic (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Ah I see, didn't realize you already had ware in. Be sure to check out the rules on stacking bioware and cyberware (if you aren't already familiar) I know one of their essence costs get halved when figuring out the loss so it might make it easier to work in some more ware.

Just kibbitzing, but if you got that Synaptic Booster 1 in Alphaware, it would be reduced in essence cost to just .2 (0.5, 50% since you have less bioware than cyberware, 80% since it's Alphaware) which I think would just fit into the fractional Essence point you have left.

I've been contemplating this post a bit myself since it was put up. I would prefer not to pause the current scene. We can circumvent any circumstances that arise that endanger or affect his character and assets for the time being. Not trying to be a dick or anything, I just don't see a reason to put things on hold when we don't know how long he'll be away or need to recover. I'll of course get him back into the game at such a time as he decides he is able to participate again. Even if it requires a deus ex machina materialization from a Star Trek teleporter. Soon as he's ready, he's back in; but for now I'll just slide him off to the side and put him on hold. Unless you guys have a major problem with it. |

I think we're looking at late this week; either Thursday or Friday, is what I've been told. But no, we can continue with the scene if you want. Honestly, we (I) take enough time to consider things, anyway, that Starship probably won't miss much by Friday even if we do continue. |
