Hi all just wondering if anybody could help me out? Im a technomancer in my SR4 group and we don't really have a face character, so we decided that maybe i should be it. Im wondering what is the best way to approach it? I was thinking of getting activesofts and the empathy software that should boost my dice pool right? Well thanks and I appreciate any help (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) .

If you're an existing character there is only so much modification possible. The only universal truth of face characters is that they need more dice and the easiest way to spike a diceroll is to use Edge. There are implants that will help at the expense of Resonance and positive qualities that can help at bpx2 cost in karma. After dicepools success is roleplay and actually convincing the person you're talking to.

If your still in chargen i would succest making the character a Dryad with high charisma(6 or 7) and make her technoshaman(or some other charisma stream)
Softmaxed charisma(7) gives you a decant dicepool of 10+skill(+possible empathy software) for all social dicepools except intimidation and a nice dicepool to resist fading with.
Taking Idioru as a paragon gives a nice +2 dice to con pool too.

Charisma is your biofeedback filter so that should be high regardless. Yay. It's not uncommon to take a stream with charisma because of that, making it pull double duty and therefore making it high.

That being said, it's hard for the technomancer to start stacking modifiers.

empathy software = limited to the response and system of the gear you want to run it on. Normally your highest response/system is in your commlink. Note that rating is NOT device rating. While you will want a good commlink as soon as you can afford it, I'm betting you're taking something cheap in chargen and planning on getting a better one, with firewall, etc, later.

Kinesics for adepts. No love there for technomancers that I can think of.

Tailored pheromones for cyberware. I'm still not convinced that technomancers (including dronomancers) are worth cybering at all.

My main issue, when I tried to do the face/technomancer build was the issue of Build Points and Karma. The technomancer really wants to spend his Karma in echos and that means that he wants to get out of the character creation process with all the attributes and skills he's ever going to want, plus having all his CFs at max.

So yes, later on in play he can up his commlink (likely his highest response piece of electronics) to response/system 6 and go get Empathy 6 (assuming someone else is buying drones) but right out of the gate the technomancer needs every BP he can lay his hands on.
