They just announced the creation of a Michael Jackson based MMO. The news can be found here:
http://www.virtualworldsnews.com/2010/09/s...ackson-mmo.html

All I can say is... wtf?

I think CAD says it best for all of us. http://www.cad-comic.com/sillies/

Well... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif)

But I could see an MMO based on the music business (i.e. manage bands, play gigs, etc) to be kinda fun and not such a bad idea, given the success of some of those games. Could be a mix of SingStar/GuitarHero and those manager games. Instead of Raids you band together to play songs or go on tour someplace. And you level up by popularity and increasing sales and income, netting better places to play at and so on and so on. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

According to the article.....

QUOTE
The virtual world will also focus on exploring various global and social issues that concerned Jackson during his lifetime. Called Planet Michael, the world will be split into "continents" patterned after different aspects of Jackson's musical work and life.

So yeah, wtf? Like I said, the comic says it all. "Ding, you've leveled up to white Michael! You gained the ability 'Dodge Lawsuits'! You looted a new nose!"

And this is just the beginning, they plan on doing a whole series of planets based on popular media. And of course then there's The Bible Online

Hm. LFG 'chasing little boys'? Poor Mike, I kinda miss him (music wise), and always got the sense he wasn't so much a pedo as a guy who was stuck in his pre-adolescence, yknow, right around the time his father exploited him for life.

Hopefully gameplay will be similar to Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.

(More poignantly, it could have you spread false rumors about yourself and then only too late realize that being considered bizarre doesn't actually make you happy.)

And of course then there's The Bible Online

I want to play as Moses so I can cast 'kill all firstborn'.
Or perhaps David so I can get nothing but crits (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

I love how there are contradictions in the site, "Turn based RTS" aka "Turn based real time strategy".

Anyone else find it odd that a game based on the bible is going to apparently be a war game?

I might have to try it out, interested to see what an MMORPGTBRTS plays like.

Edit: Do you think Lilith is a character option?

Edit2: Actually, it looks suspiciously like Travina and other games in that vein.

I think it's based on the book of Exodus when all the Jews wandered the desert for 40 years. So you're automatically doomed to fail from the beginning cause God said you're staying lost.

It's the next logical step after the Bible collectible card game. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

It's just a shame that it looks like a direct rip of Travnia and other similar games.

I love how SEE declared they'd be making other games based on other media properties to go with the Jacko game, as if they already assume it will be successful enough. Then we'll see Planet Cruise (Tom Cruise), Planet Turtle (Teenge Mutant Ninja Turtles), Planet Lee (Stan Lee), the other Planet Lee (Spike Lee), and Planet Tits (Pamel Anderson's boobs, starting from puberty then growing through the implant phase and so on).

Isn't there already a planet Lee? No, it's DC, never mind.

I do wonder how much that also apply to others. Still, there is the issue of "pedo" being applied to people that are interested in persons that are sexually developed, but not considered a adult by law (basically the crazy age range from 13 to 18).
