Yes, it has. I know it`s given me some things to think about.

I agree about rolling the dice before hand, to see how the character should act. I think the same for ettiquette. Roll the Ettiquette at the begining of a social encounter, and that should give an idea to the GM about how well the character should understand the customs involved. If the player doesn`t know, and the character rolls high ettiquette, hand wave it.

At the same time, there are bonuses the characters can get to Negotiation and such, these possibilities should be noted before the player rolls the dice, and then role played effectively. This may result in a multi-stage encounter, where the character attempts to negotiate a deal, and fails, then tries to sweeten the pot. I think this is perfectly acceptable.
