Yeah, I'm just teasing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) It *is* a little funny when the modifiers are vastly bigger than the actual 'real' DP, but oh well.

Wouldn't that be a bit much ? I mean Glamour mentions 'distinctive style', and other metagenetics mention 'freak', but Nasty Vibe, despite the description, only mentions the Intimidation bonus. That would be inferring a lot of fluff from rules. Distinctive style, especially when you tried so much to hide all distinctions, seems like a big flaw (I did take blandness and first impression after all). The description says that the character radiates the ultimate "bad vibe", and that beings in the character's presence feel an "air of menace". In other words, it isn't something you can simply turn on and off as you need it - you radiate an aura of evil all the time. So yeah, I would apply distinctive style to that, definitely - the description of the distinctive style quality says that all of the advanced character options automatically suffer the effects of distinctive style, without getting a bonus for it. While I would not apply that quite as broadly as it is written, I think that nasty vibe is something that would definitely make a character more memorable. How that would mix in with blandness, I haven't a clue. "He was evil! Pure, malevolent evil! I thought I was going to die! That, um... kind of nondescript, average-looking face of his... will haunt my nightmares!" |

So yeah, I would apply distinctive style to that, definitely - the description of the distinctive style quality says that all of the advanced character options automatically suffer the effects of distinctive style This is something i disagree with in principle. Sticking someone with another quality just because they have another memorable one doesn't feel right. That is to say, Nasty Vibe does not equal Nasty Vibe and Distinctive Style - its ten points, not five. This is, however, a bad example to use, because the RC has an 'automatic distinctive style' clause. Lets say, quadrapalegic instead of nasty vibe. While having quadrapalegic and distinctive style together might make sense, If you haven't got/recieved extra points from distinctive style, its not fair to make a character suffer a penalty for a quality they don't have. In this case, however, you're absolutely right. The character is a surgeling, and gets stuck with Distinctive Quality for free. |
