This character will be for Missions season 4. I'm bringing 100 karma from a previous character. I'm planning on breaking the skill groups since its cheaper in game.

I know I need a vehicle. I'm looking to build someone who can fight, do some matrix research, and if he has to talk his way through things.

Thoughts?

Sounds like a fun character that should play well without stepping on any other players toes.

I think of this as a "leader" build, as you can take the initiative in a wide range of situations and each "phase" of a game (legwork, non-combat action, combat), and have that combination of social skills, perception, and combat survivability that lets you get out in front for RP.

In any specific situation a specialist would be able to outclass your character, and you might be the worst on the team in combat. But that just makes a leader more tolerable because he can't hog the spotlight.

Or are you trying to do it solo?

I only see 120 BP in your Skills Group (Indicated by Mad Skills at 156bp)
60 points in Individual Skills (15 Levels at 4 points each - Clubs (2), Data Search (4), Perception (4), Intimidation (4), and Thrown Weapons (1))
and 60 points in Group Skills (6 Levels at 10 Each - Atletics (1), Stealth (1), Influence (2) and Firearms (2))

Total of 120... It appears that you are missing 36 BP for Skills...

I've been playing an ex-Lonestar cop in my home game of shadowrun, and they do fit the leader role perfectly (as long as magic isn't involved). He could best be summed up as a Gun Bunny with Face elements, and an aptitude for computer use.

Looking at your character I'd recommended upping Firearms, and changing Clubs to Close Combat (as an ex-cop, you know you can't carry weapons everywhere, so you will be unarmed, eventually). I'd do that at the cost of some Data Search and Perception (to which you have sweet bonuses from intuition, programs and cyberware.)

My ex-star used the Lone Star SWAT Suite found in Augmentation to get Wired reflexes, smartlink, body lacing and flare compensation. Worth looking into, because with bone lacing you could cut your Body attribute down by one and boost your logic.

I don't know if WAR is allowed in missions, but it does have some mechanical uses for the Leadership skill that fit for a small unit commander, like an ex-swat officer.

Unless you plan on rolling with beng without, you're going to need some form of licence for the guns as well.

You could consider dropping the firearms group and taking longarms 3 and pistols 1 instead, with specialisations for both, you're better off on both counts, and on BP. With even more saving if you use karma to get the specs.
For that matter, you might consider getting a sidearm as well, for backup and concealability reasons, if not for flavour.

I didn't even notice your char hadn't taken a sidearm, I'm so used to it being mandatory.

Get one.

Hehe, good character concept. One thought I had for Season 4.5 (The second half, after the Artifact and Underground plots wrap) is maybe playing around with the Star and following up on them for a plotline, or at least an adventure or two.

Anyway, as ex-Star, you should have fun with Tosh. And maybe Dana Oaks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Swap your cybereyes for the Lone Start SWAT suite and a pair of glasses or contacts with image link, vision enhancement, and vision mag. You'll pay about 3k less nuyen, and .22 more essence to add plastic bone lacing and flare comp.

The Lone Star SWAT suite does have one problem- it should include an image link already, because image link is a pre req for Smart Link. But image link is not included in the listed benefits, so the suite is breaking the rules, aka needs to be looked at by a GM or errata'ed. Mine hand waved it to include the image link.

...except that the Lone Star SWAT Suite has them as eye modifications, not cybereyes. It doesn't mean the suite is breaking any rules, per se, but it does mean that someone with it would need to add an image link, either as an extra eye mod or in something like glasses or contacts.

True, I was thinking more of you always want an image link rather than it being a prereq for a smartlink. I change my suggestion to definately buy the image link as an extra eye mod instead of a glasses or contacts mod, you still save money and essence over buying the suite items indivually and you aren't SOL if you don't have your glasses on you.
