One of the runners in our group has an addiction to alcohol and will sometimes go on drinking binges. Are there any rules for alcohol, presumably as a toxin?

use the stats of Hurlg (AR p.75) but reduce duration and crash damage.
all drugs have a toxin power of 6 (AR p.73) to define "a dose" of alcohol, just think of whatever you deem reasonable. then multiply according to the addiction level |

You know, we should make a Dumpshock Drinking Game. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/devil.gif) Whenever someone posts something insightful, drink.Whenever someone posts something amusing, drink. Whenever someone posts something stupid, drink. (That's covered most posts, so step 4 is "call the poison control center".) |

Cheap Synthahol goes by the name "Burn" I believe in the books. Or was that SR3?

A Dumpshock drinking game would just degenerate into an ongoing argument about the rules for said drinking game and who's playing it wrong. Then somebody would come along bitching about how the new "flavor" of their drink just isn't right and they miss the drinks in 3rd edition and the whole thing would blow up into one big conflagration of how the Matrix-related drinking rules are broken.
Man that would be fun to watch. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

3rd Edition Drinking Game, man, I was around since the 1st Edition Drinking game! With it's Drinking Tree!
Not only did you have to take a drink, but it also told you what type of drink you had to take as well! I had just enough rum after one flame war over drones! |

They're not really so much "rules" as they are "steps."

1) If a bro hands you a Drek Ice, you must consume it (Willpower checks may apply)
2) If, for some unfathomable reason, you already have a Drek Ice on your person when 'iced', said bro now has to drink BOTH Ices. 3) You are all animals. Characters who have consumed too much synthahol must make a Body check (TN is set by the number of drinks). Failure adds a +2 penalty to Willpower for resisting come-ons, +4 penalty to athletics tests, Reaction and Intelligence are reduced by the number of drinks/2 (minimum 1). Critical failure makes character blind. All other damage is so far down the line, it's hardly worth counting. After all, your character is much more likely to die flipping out on smack during a freaky three-way down by the old railyard than he is to live to thirty and actually see a doctor for reasons other than 'should this be leaking so much blood?' |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) I don't actually drink myself... ...hmmm, something vaguely entropic in that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif) |

You work tech support, you drink yourself under the table in the hopes that the pain will go away, and the alcohol will make you feel clean again.
It doesn't work, but there's always the hope. |

I used to be. The sedentary lifestyle has gotten rid of that, however...
