Which of those provide combat bonuses? I do see 'gear'. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Anyone bought it and wants to share? the Preview looks a little ness like a trainwreck than War!, and some of the authors have delivered on SR before - and the one person present from the War Team is Filamena Young, who probably wrote the half decent parts of it ... still, anyone got anything on this thing?

I'm just getting into it (( juggling both kids right now)) but it's reading ok so far. The intro fiction was interesting. It actually references the cover and the girl there and how 'Real' shadowrunners don't dress like that, but how people THINK they do, and because perception can define reality it's a feedback loop that has to be played into a little.
It's not going to be full of guns or stuff guys. It's not that kinda book. It's about the stuff around the edges. Not a gear list. I'm in the "What are shadowrunners and where do we come from" Chapter. Again.. it's nothing your runner is going to strap on and shoot at someone, but it might help you flesh out WHY your Runner is running to start with. Where he came from. Why he's a shadowrunner instead of a cop, or a military guy, or a hood rat or whatever. It's kinda funny the guy that's collected the information is getting picked on a bit by some of the badasses but it seems he's a bit better than they expected. And has alot of information that they didn't really realize they gave out. |

Here I am about to start a thread on this, and it already exists. Thanks for getting it going! Anyway, PDF and pre-orders are on the Battleshop, PDF also on Drivethru, and a (hopefully) fine description on the Shadowrun4.com website. Enjoy!

#1 favorite thing so far is a gear section with gear that standard PCs can actually pick up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
Most of it is pretty mundane stuff (brands of clothes, more options for armored clothing, tatoos, etc) but at least its not milspec (availability 24+) |

Can you imagine milspec tattoos and and fashionwear? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) "Damn baby, you must be ex-special-forces, because that is a military-grade dress!"

Can you imagine milspec tattoos and and fashionwear? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) "Damn baby, you must be ex-special-forces, because that is a military-grade dress!" you mean like the (( DIFFERENT)) Uniforms every nation (( and corp)) in the world wears? Or the unit tattoos that the hard core sport? Or how wearing the wrong uniform in the wrong place can get you killed? Or the right one in the right place can get you information or aid. Like that? *Grins* There's alot more to the game than "My gun does 12 dice damage" Some people like the immersion. |

I meant items with avail 24+, actually. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) So, yes, some uniforms. Probably not 'fashionwear'.

Aright, bought it. I'm a sucker for fashion stuff. Review coming up short-ish. Looks better than War!, from a short glance-over.

*Chuckles*
"Side note: He mention Corps' shit lists. Do you know who they hire for those kinds of traces? Have you ever met the guy that knows the page references in novels, and lives to explain frame rates and polygon refreshing AR? That guy. Most of society thinks the paranoid obsessive cretins of the world are not useful. A good corp knows the value of the Nerd. Turbo Bunny " lol that's awesome. |

Hm, gonna be interested in reviews of this one. Will it make me buy it? Nope. Will it make me buy it used? Possibly! Considering that the entertainment sector is what I'm writing for Data Haven, I think you know where I lie...

Haven't read it cover to cover, but I made it through the crunchy bits in some detail. There are more useful items that I thought. The wearable drone jumps out at me as something that is unlikely to be allowed into most games. (Strength becomes 8, but agility is reduced by 1?)

Preview looks good so far, but given that this is the first post-War! book I'll hold on to my money until reading a couple of reviews, or reading the extra-large preview somewhere (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)
PS: The TOC mentions "The Elementals"...I know I've read something about that, but I just can't put teh finger on it... |

it's for Faces, what Street Magic is for the awakened and Unwired for Hackers/TMs http://watermark.drivethrustuff.com/pdf_pr...9433-sample.pdf at least I hope I guess there's nothing stopping you from seeing it that way, but I disagree. It's "for" everybody, and it's pretty much the opposite of the rules-heavy Street Magic, Arsenal, etc. It might be only the Face in your games that cares about popular Sixth World culture, but that doesn't mean only the Face should. Attitude covers sports, tridshows, the news, all kinds of stuff in mainstream -- and, yes, shadow -- society. |
