This is just a quick question regarding watchers spirits that came up this weekend and is kinda bugging me. Do watcher spirits have a set number of services determined by your successes, or do they merely do whatever jobs you can give them until their time runs out. I ask because I never popped into my mind that they would have a number of services. I can't really fathom why I didn't think of it, I guess it was because I had just read about ally spirits and I assumed if watcher spirits had a number of services it would have said in MitS. My GM disagreed with me, but did say he didn't know the rules that well and that was how his group had always done it. I figure he is probably right, but I needed to ask because it would have kept bugging me. In retrospect I wish I hadn't paid enough in ritual components to make the watcher last for a few months. Anyways, thanks for any feedback.

Looking through MITS it doesn't say anything about services unless I missed somethign.. Concidering that with general conjuring, the number of successes on the conjuring test = the number of services you could go with that. However, in the case of watchers, the number of successes is the number of hours in which the watcher "lives." Therefore, I could also read it that the watcher is around for a few hours and can do anything you want it to in those hours.

yes, a watcher is very time limited and very weak so there isnt realy mmutch reason in limiting the amount of stuff it can do in that time. oh and allso remember that its quite dumb (where did that post go where someone tryed to use a watcher as a translator?).

elementals stay around as long as you have not used up all services but takes a nice long time to summon.

a nature spirit times out at first sunrise or sunset or when it runs out of services, whatever comes first. but you can summon them at a moments notice :)
