Sony is trying to blame it on Anonymous as a retributive attack for the settled Geohot lawsuit. Anonymous has actually said, "uh, no dude, we have nothing to do with it."

Other people in the industry are theorizing another possible motive: the removal of the Other OS feature on older Ps3s.

Those two are basically the same.

And while i do not want to play down the seriousness of all this, i have not heard much about actual credit cards and such being misused from these data leaks. At least not in the large scale that they may suggest. This likely because it will be damn trivial for the credit companies to block operation for those numbers and issue new ones. Not sure how that lines up with SR tho, as i suspect the credit/banking laws of SR are much more in the corpoations favor.

And yes, Sony is a real life megacorp. Just check out this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Corporat...nd_subsidiaries

Then again, SR corporations borrow heavily in theme from these two concepts:

Also, having worked from a Public Relations point of view, "People just don't do the research, man. It's like, they believe whatever someone with an expensive haircut and perfect teeth tell them."

Which is why Tech Support is never going away, and why it'll always be a burn-out job.

And why someone that looks the look and talks the talk can walk out of a bank with a million dollar loan, that never gets repaid as the person evaporated soon after.

No matter what we do, we humans are damn susceptible to charming looks and honey tongue.

It's kind of scary and kind of awesome at the same time.

*Shrug* A lot of human history is like that. A bunch of bored people doing things for the LOLZ, who then get an aim somehow.

Yeah, and if the banks had to actually pay for their own stupidity rather than go "Wah wah wah" and so on and drop it on the other, normal users of the bank...

Don't get me started... You're right, but dear $Deity are we a stupid species!

I suspect part of the issue is that so much of human to human interaction is still instinct driven, instincts that have not changed much since our ancestors where climbing trees in groups.
