Pool Table
4 minutes 30 after waking She gets a wry turn of the lip of her own. "Yeah, it is. If you know a good money launderer, I might be able to steal some money from myself to pay. Assuming the account's not frozen yet. That would be slippery." She twists her back very slightly a couple times, grimacing and going pale some more. "A referral, eh? By whom, might I ask? I did hear about Akenmann's from somebody, but..." Her face clouds over. "Speaking of which, how did I get here?" |

Pool Table
5 minutes after waking "I might know some people, Big D only knows if they'll do an ex wave slave- practically charity work." He says, pacing around a little, gathering up small bottles and dumping them in a crate. "We'll be in touch, I can guarantee it. Mikey's a softie, head down to Casey's at 49th and Lee and ask the bartender about 'queso'. You'll get his attention." Turning to the front door, he looks over his shoulder and says, "I don't know what took Harl's arm and shoulder, but it's damn lucky it was so hot, cauterized it, He'll live." Kicking open the door, 'Akenmann' walks out into the street. |

Pool Hall
6 minutes awake That's enough going slack-jawed with surprise. Ratchet your teeth back into place, that's it. Well, another little miracle; you didn't kill him, at least. Mary works the shirt back down and gets out from under the lamp. Her irises open up a bit and she goes over to Harl's table. She inspects the Doctor's handiwork. "Now, I'd say that's not a flesh wound. Good thing you're not awake to see the light in my eyes, it'd be embarrassing. I've got a project now. Harl, my boy, I'm going to build you an arm." Providing you can get materials, tools, a place to work, and out of debt to Akenmann. Good luck. She sets about looking for her personal effects before trying to dress up and go out to the bar. |

Pool Hall
7 minutes awake Akenmann comes back in through the door guiding what looks like a motorized moving dolly. "You're still here?" He parks next to Harl's table and it lays out like a stretcher, hops up on the table and goes to work moving Harl's body piece at a time; shoulders, waist, then legs. He seems pretty accustomed to the procedure and has Harl halfway on the stretcher in 10 seconds. |

7 minutes 15 seconds awake "Sorry, Doc, was just making sure I had my junk together. On my way to Casey's now. Hopefully I'll soon have enough to pay you back and be able to start on finding an arm for Harl. Later." She makes her exit, checks the time, and looks for the signs that'll get her to 49th and Lee. |

Lee street Pool Hall entrance
January 5th, 2060, 3:45am Out on the street it's a relatively simple matter to find a clock and street sign. Finally, something seems to be going your way, at least you won't need to find Lee street. A short walk even confirms you're going the right direction, and only 4 blocks away at that, it almost makes up for everything of yours going missing at the market. |

Lee Street/Casey's
January 5, 4 am It doesn't take long to figure out this isn't her favorite part of Downtown. Places there can look great in the daytime and get scary by this hour. Looks like this place is unnerving all day long. But if any bar can manage to stay open this late, it must not generate too much trouble. Or maybe it does. There are a few corners here and there that look like they might be ganger pockets but she only sees dozing homeless as Mary drags her carcass to the door of Casey's. She does her best to stride confidently past the bouncer and then plants herself on a barstool. She's got plenty of choice at this time of night. When the barman comes over, she tells him, "I'm actually really hungry. I could go for some queso if you've got it." |

January 5th, 2060, 4:01am The bartender nods at you and jerks a thumb gesturing at a lone booth next to a door reading 'employees only' There's a hub resting in the center of the table and some partially full bottles and a half eaten plate of fish and chips. 2 men and 2 women sit around talking quietly and occasionally chuckle. They see you and stop talking. They're all dressed fairly stylishly for a place like this, and predatory grins greet you as you walk up. One of them points down to the hub as he and the girl to his left plug in. You're suddenly conscious of a lump in one of your pockets, an unfamiliar commlink, and a pretty general, low end one at that from the looks of it as you pull it out. |

January 5th, 2060, 4:01 am 4 people. Not quite what she expected or hoped for. With one person, she could offer to split two or three thousand in half and still expect to be taken up. Four makes it less likely her request will be taken seriously at all. Still, it's her one shot. Mary hooks up the trodes and earbuds or whatever interface the commlink has, as well as plugging it into the hub. Barring trodes or subvocal microphone compatibility she gets ready to type her request when it's clear she can do so. It may be she misread Akenmann and these people want to have her do something instead of the other way around. |

I sincerely hope you're not wasting my time. What brings you to me today?> "Cheers, chum, Try the fish." |

January 5th, 2060, 4:02 am "Thanks, don't mind if I do." Because she really is hungry by now. She works on a couple pieces as she enters her request. <I owe Doctor Akenmann some money. I have 2400 in savings to draw upon, but I have reason to expect in the morning that identity will be declared dead, missing, or a fugitive. The account's probably still open so they can locate me if I try to use it. I need to get the money in such a way that there's no way any of us, especially the Doctor, could be linked back to it. I offer you fifty percent as my payment.> |

January 5th, 2060, 4:02am The fish tastes remarkably good, especially so since it appears to have recently been ordered and is still warm. You hadn't been paying attention initially, but the taste and texture confirm it, this is real fish. "Tastes good, doesn't it." He smiles, showing the barest hint of teeth. You feel uncomfortable just looking at it. <Well now, not even a moments hesitation. 24 hundred. Nuyen. This is a joke, is it?> The girl's taken to looking you over briefly as the text continues. <Normally I'd laugh you straight out of here, But I'm feeling particularly whimsical today and I have an errand I need run. It's such a minor thing too, You'll get your 1200, and the other half just for picking someone up and delivering them where they're going. Interested?> |

January 5th, 2060, 4:02 am "Wow. It's incredible." She takes a little more time to work on it. His response says he'd still be disdainful if you offered him 2000. A simple transport worth well more than that? Probably unimaginably dangerous. <I can see that's probably the only bid you'll take. But what I have is only what you see - that is to say I have no vehicle. But I'm sure you've already factored that in. Alright. I'm game.> |

Casey's January 5th, 2060, 4:02am The girl slides a set of keys slide across the table to you on a slip of paper. <Take the rabbit out front, inconspicuous and all. The pickup is at 47th and Kay in the parking garage, third level by the northeast corner, pull up at least a support away and give the passphrase: "Cold night's fog bites like a dog" to which they'll reply "Get lost, Balut!" Take them to the Club Kraze and give the bouncer that paper. He'll take you from there. Be quick about it, go now.> "Do well and maybe we can arrange more work for you, chum." On the third level (roof) of a parking garage at 47th and Kay Mathew Wilson, Data Courier curled his nose trying to avoid the smell of dampened rotten food and piss in the air, but the job would pay well, and he was there early for dumping the tail he'd had. The contact wasn't supposed to be here until 30 past. Some idle part of his mind wondered what the hell a 'Balut' was anyway... * Balut Query, public encyclopedia entry, would you like to see more links? Okay thanks Curiosity search prediction engine. Mathew continues waiting. This space between a fire extinguisher drone station and the edge of the edge of the garage will have to do for cover.. should be near impossible to spot him here at least... Club Kraze Brick may hate nights like this, he might not, it may just be a late night. But at least the overtime is good. Private party, they're well behaved, and only one 'watch for this on a slip of paper and let whoever has it in' request. Pulling up the image again he reviews it. the figure is clearly outlined, black and white.. and makes a 'my little pony' with a skull on it's flank. Who even knows what this is now.. Why!? It's the inane questions that keep me going on long night shifts.. but maybe for Brick it's different. |

Kraze
January 5th, 2060 4:05 AM Marcus was outside the club. On most nights, he would be home by now. Tonight, he was asked to stay as a special favor to someone. He did not care who. Usually, he did not know. All that mattered was his payment. The payment was always good, so he always showed. The picture code was not unusual. Picture codes and SIN activation were the main ways of security. Unfortunately, neither were the people trying to sneak into the VIP section of the club. Sneaking in was not exclusive to any particular groups. Legal merchants, drug dealers, and sex traders all wanted to get their wares in front of the people who were likely to have the most money. Of course, they would usually wind up giving themselves away by saying they were on a computerized list. There was no "list". Lists allow for impersonation, hacking and false identities. Kraze operated by pictures. Tonight's (or by now today's) picture was some sort of my little pony with a skull. Although Marcus would have trouble describing it, it was easy enough to remember and recognize it. The favorite part of the day by far was when people tried to slip him unauthorized credit sticks to get in. A tiny, obviously broke human slipped him a piece of paper. The lump of the creditstick was obvious. Marcus made a motion to look at the picture. The only thing written on the paper was "there's more where that came from". If that was true, he would have his SIN already activated. Gah, an out of area con artist, which means more money for improvements. "I am sorry, your picture is incorrect.". The human pushed him and hollared something about money back and made some reference to stone or something. He was probably trying to butter up Marcus and forgot the nickname, and the fact only people close to him used it. "I do not take money." Marcus put the human against the wall lightly. Still, the message would get through to a frail boned human. The human turned and left. Marcus pocketed the credit stick. |

January 5th, 2060 4:00 AM Mathew tried to pick a position to wait that gave him a good view of cars that might be coming from either direction, but had to settle for a spot with better cover and slightly less fresh excrement. This wasn't the worst place he had been asked to make a pickup or delivery, but it was coming close. His clients took extravagant precautions to protect their privacy, and it was his job to accommodate those requests - even when it meant waiting on top of a cold parking garage at four in the morning. The next half hour was going to seem like a lot longer.... |

January 5th, 2060, 4:13am Mary pulls up to the third deck slowly, the stir of homeless, like darkness crawling all around, had a stilling effect when passing through those lower floors, but here on the roof they were scarce. only 2 in the entire expanse, and neither near the fire drone station all blotchy red. Even the 3 cars remaining up here are in such a state they can't possibly be driven, one lays it's front bumper on the ground, clearly displaying a hole burned straight through it's hood long ago, another missing wheels, doors, and even the chairs that were inside. Mathew hears the car drive up. Significantly early, sure, but not unprecedented in an industry like his, perhaps they were scouting out the location. Club Kraze 4:10am A BMW 400GT growls up to the curb near the Club, and 4 well dressed people get out, laughing and chatting. They walk up and a smooth faced guy among them stops right by Brick. "Cheers, Chum, The rest of my party will be here in a few, we'll wait for them inside." You recognize this guy, he, at the very least, looks very much like the guy that arranged this little party late yesterday, even the car looks like the one he drove. It's no guarantee that it's him, sure, but if he is an impersonator, he's a very good one. |

Club Kraze
4:15am Marcus scanned the party with the BMW. He looked enough like the guy that arranged the party through the club's owner. The owner told Marcus to let him in after a through visual and smell check. The vehicle reeked of moneyed scents and car freshener. That is what the owner said he would smell like. Marcus stepped closer to him. To an outside observer, it could look threatening. However, if the party was real, they would not feel threatened. When the party acted as if nothing was amiss, Marcus backed off. They likely are approved by the biometrics. "All right. I will be watching for suspicious behavior." The crowd already drew Marcus's attention though. Random shouts of the crowd saying they are with the BMW party rang out. Marcus diverted his attention to the crowd to calm them down and prevent them from entering. |

January 5th, 2060, 4:15 am Mary stops the Chrysler-Nissan right where she was told, one support away from the northeast corner. She rolls down her windows a couple inches to let a breeze through. At least the context of the passphrase works well enough. It is cold. Not quite cold enough to take away all the smell, but it helps. She doesn't see anyone, but maybe hiding was part of the idea. Might as well give it a try, practice it once. She looks out her passenger window at the city, shivers, and says, half to herself and half to the city, "Cold night's fog bites like a dog." |

January 5th, 2060 4:15 AM Stepping calmly from where he had been crouching, Mathew Wilson casually batted some debris from the slacks of his expensive suit as he stepped into view. He had expected to have more time to make himself a bit more presentable, but he was glad that the early arrival meant that his wait would be over. "Get lost, Balut!' He gave the corresponding passphrase, but without much enthusiasm - which made it sound more like a warning than a command. Slowly, he began to approach the vehicle. |

January 5th, 2060, 4:15 am Mary tries to not look too startled, covering with the motion of pushing the button to open the passenger door to let him in. Once he's safely in, the door shuts and the windows close. When she gets a look at his suit, she says, "Well, sorry I'm a bit mismatched tonight. Never mind, on to the Club." And so they depart. |

January 5th, 2060 4:17 AM Matt nods, but seems distracted. His attention seems directed out the window, as the pair begin to leave the parking structure. He had been told that the contact would pick him up here and take him to some other location for data transfer, which suggested the driver would not possess the codes necessary to activate his data filter - however he had still considered the possibility that he would be driven to some location with a bag over his head, or a blindfold or something. He was pleasantly surprised that the woman not only seemed fine with letting him look around, but she even made some attempt to make smalltalk. After a bit of awkward silence, he responded to the dropped conversation. "No need to apologize. You look fine. I suspect I am overdressed for the occasion." The location selected for the meeting should have been a clue. "You should know that I had a tail earlier in the evening, but was able to lose him before heading towards the structure. I will continue to keep an eye out, but since we were both quite a bit early, we should probably take a roundabout way to get to the club." |

"I assume you're in charge of transportation, so I'll just let you do your thing." He smirked, "You probably know more than I do about our schedule." |
