A thing I figured lately: From a point of balance, you could easily reduce the handling of a drone that's not meant for combat or delicate operations. It's hard to improve a drone's handling greatly. So no GM will have to worry about household drones going Agent Smith.
And I'm fairly certain that there might be combat autosofts for household drones. Maybe not provided by corporations, but of course on the black market. Heck, it's the first thing I'd program as a 'running rigger!

To fight with what, exactly? The meat clamp to grab onto someone and the vacuum cleaner extension to suck someone's brain out? :o

Anything that can perform industrial tasks can deal industrial-strength damage to someone if used (in)appropriately. If the security guard isn't expecting the eight-foot tall lifter he's taking cover behind to attack him, it could get in one good squeeze while he's still focused on the guys with guns.

If that's too much of a stretch, you could certainly override its safeties and get it to knock over shelves, damage liquid containers, or just walk into people. Even if it's not a direct threat, they're big enough to force the enemy to deal with it. You can ignore it helplessly swinging its pincers way-too-slowly-to-hit-you, you can't ignore it picking up a piece of wall and standing in the way.

I was more thinking of putting guns in their hands, answering this:

Also, good luck finding combat Autosofts for Manservants.

Anyway, this might be an appropriate way, too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Yeah, one demonstration of a "Weak", "Slow", and "Obsolete" robotic arm from the late 1980s told me that I don't want to get anywhere near one that's working unless I know exactly where it's going to be moving. And even then...

Of course, that was hooked up to an industrial power source, not running on batteries which would limit things in order to get lifetime...

It's the vacuum cleaner coming to kill you in your sleep. Or stick a poisoned needle in your leg. After all, people have been conditioned to ignore household drones.

Are you kidding? It's the toaster that tries to kill me in my sleep (Or when I'm in the bath). The vacuum cleaner tries to kill me when I'm in the kitchen making breakfast.

Don't even ask what the kaff machine has done!

Are you kidding? It's the radio that tries to kill me in the bath! But only when White Rabbit peaks.
