NP. I was planning on using it with the tripod, not shooting from the hip. I am running at around str 6, which is up at "Arny" levels. With Legundo's help I am up to str 12. But your point about height is valid: Physics is important until you get to spells.
I'll swap it for something else. By the way to avoid paralysis later in the game, I would like to wangle a promotion to corporal, as part of the package for attracting me to stay with DW. The primary reason I stay of course is that I have always been with DW from the very beginning, and I don't know anything else. I have been a corporal before (many times) but always seem to get busted back (Sticks can probably appreciate why). |

I think Mr J might now be on holiday for a couple of weeks so we’ll slot him in when he gets back – it’ll take a little bit of time to reach your destination and I’m sure there will be complications en-route to deal with (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif)
Cappn Roberts will hopefully be along shortly to take charge of the situation but until he does I’m going to assume that you are all in (or on for the mechas) the lead APC. Of course if one or two of you want to be forward scout in the Hotspur or in the Appaloosa behind that then that would be fine too! Splitting the party will enable a bit if fluidity of combat rounds etc and hopefully mean you won’t have to wait for others to post too much. You’ll have one or two NPCs with you so won’t be alone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) To assist any of you busily considering mecha I’ve statted the raw basics of three levels of mechanical monster. Note the mod slots are all used up on these and the listed ‘free’ slots are all available for overmodding only (1.5x mod slots for overmodding is the rough rule of thumb I’m working to). Overmods cost double the usual price (and I’ve already done some in the examples below). None of the arms are modded here either which is something you may want to consider blowing your cash on! 3m Tall Light Mecha [H 2, Ac 6/12, Sp 54, P 4, B 6, A 12, S 6] Cost 44,000 Free Overmod Slots 5 Walker, 2x Full Mechanical Arm, Rigger Adaption & Cocoon, Life Support [1], Response [5], Signal [5] 4m Tall Heavy Mecha [H 3, Ac 6/11, Sp 30, P 4, B 8, A 16, S 6] Cost 59,000 Free Overmod Slots 2 Walker, 2x Full Mechanical Arm, Rigger Adaption & Cocoon, Life Support [1], Response [5], Signal [5], Weapon Mount [External, Flexible, Remote] 6m Tall Super Heavy Mecha [H 3, Ac 3/14, Sp 54, P 4, B 10, A 20, S 6] Cost 78,000 Free Overmod Slots 1 Walker, 2x Full Mechanical Arm, Rigger Adaption & Cocoon, Life Support [1], Response [5], Signal [5], 2x Weapon Mount [External, Flexible, Remote] Each Mecha above has the same sensors: Vehicle Sensor Package [Camera [6] +Smartlink +Lowlight +Thermo +Magnification +Vision Enhance [3] (front), Camera [6] +Lowlight (rear), Laser Range Finder (front), Motion Sensor (front), Radio Signal Scanner [6], UWB Radar [4], Radar [6]] Side Note: for clarification I am using the recoil compensation = vehicle body rule rather than all recoil being compensated! Jumped in Mecha use gunnery for mounted weapons and the normal skill for hand held ones (not sure if that’s RAW but it makes sense to me!) I will shortly update post no. 1 with these mecha + some bells and whistles to complete the units...as always take what you like and ignore the rest! |

I've updated post 2 of this thread with links to your character sheets...Gash, have you posted yours yet (may have missed it...)
Chance359, Digital Heroin are you still in? We'll wait on a sheet from Mr J once he's back... So that the links stay active can you please update these posts with your current character stats etc? I'll calculate your Events pool once you've had a chance to settle on your characters for a bit and ensure you are happy with them...or you decide you need an Event NOW (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif) |

so:
3m Tall Light Mecha [H 2, Ac 6/12, Sp 54, P 4, B 6, A 12, S 6] Cost 44,000 Free Overmod Slots 5 Walker, 2x Full Mechanical Arm, Rigger Adaption & Cocoon, Life Support [1], Response [5], Signal [5] Are there any weapon mounts on this thing? +1 mod slot for integrating my nexus into it, raising response and signal to 6. +1 nano maintenance system R3 22.5K +1 enhanced cocoon (4k) +2 Chameleon Coating (12K) 82.5K (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nuyen.gif) Totally affordable, especially since I dropped all my drones. Arm/leg modifications. Whats' the base stats, obviously they don't have a 3 body, do they really havea 3 gility an a 3 str? What does the agility even mean, considering I'm using either sensors, or reponse for every actiion. |

No, this one doesn't come with any freebie weapon mounts...you need the big bugger for that! It's a damn sight more stealthy though. One thing I've done in the past is use the weapon mods that make a weapon into a drone and then stick that on your shoulder for a similar effect (I think there's an example on one of my characters Masque who you can find <<here>>)
Of course it would also mean changing some IC posts <<grrrr>> (unless you go the grenade launcher drone and then we just make you a taller mecha than Kit's...) Integrating your nexus would give you a small discount as you wouldn't need to upgrade the signal and response Arm Strength = vehicle body + any cyberarm mods you give it. Agility is useless as you use response anyway (as you pointed out) I haven't checked your sheet through yet, were you able to cram in the hacking skills you wanted? If not perhaps Kit can NPC that side of things... |

No, he didn't cram in the hacker skills.
Let me look at the heavy mecha.. it's just seriously slow. How about: You really think my nexus would cost a full modslot? 4m Tall Heavy Mecha [H 3, Ac 6/11, Sp 30, P 4, B 8, A 16, S 6] Cost 59,000 Free Overmod Slots 2 Walker, 2x Full Mechanical Arm, Rigger Adaption & Cocoon, Life Support [1], Response [5], Signal [5], Weapon Mount [External, Flexible, Remote] +1 Nano Maintenance system R3 (22.5K) +1 enhanced cocoon (4K) +4 str both arms: 12k 97.5k |

Well you could bolt the nexus onto the outside (IMG:style_emoticons/default/ork.gif)
Actually, given the size of your 'arms' you could mount it in the equivalent of a 'large smuggling compartment' as everything will scale up (within reason)...it's meant to be about the size of a current desktop computer so... I think the price for the str upgrade is a bit out (it's not a mod in the sense of overmodding) Str+4 = 1000?!? Will have to check this one maybe. You could also get the external weapon mount (SMG or smaller, capacity 7, 2500) and put it on your shoulder instead of the jiggery pokery with the weapon mod Do you really need the enhanced cocoon? |

enhanced cocoon means that first aid, and surgery can be done on you, inside the cocoon, by a medic agent, or a remoted in doctor.
It means it'll dispense stim patch equivalents, etc.. if he takes stun, or dumpshock. well, a Str mod is 1500 per point, there are 2 arms, so that 3000 per point for both arms, so +4 would be 12,000 ? You said the Heavy Mecha comes with an external weapon mount already. So, I figured I'd just switch to the Heavy mecha. And I think putting the nexus into the arms is a great idea. I need to read through the 500 pages of the ooc thread to find the stats on that nexus. |

QUOTE Gash, have you posted yours yet (may have missed it...) It available through my signature. But here it is again: Gash I've commented the changes. I still have to update the weapon choice (it has the HMG at the moment): I'll do that in the next couple of days. (if its a blocker I'll do it sooner) By the way: good call on the recoil compensation. That's a sensible optional rule for all drones. |

and really 10 points of recoil compensation is going to be loverly (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
If I mod the str of the arms up to 12, will I also get the extra +3 for being stupidly strong? |

Work has really ramped up this month, and I've been too busy to dig into what is essentially a new character. By all means start up without me, but I hope to be back in business sooner rather than later. Roberts came into the last game late, it's only fitting that he comes into this one late too. I think I'll go scouting in the Hotspur. Driver or gunner? I'll let a few more of you introduce yourselves, react to Aria and then move the action along (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

@Aria
Gash is mightily pissed off with the whole affair: but its this or jail. I am looking forward's to this game immensely. I thought a grumpy Gash might add a little color to Aria's cheeks. |

Nah, she doesn't mind...she's used to grumpy dwarves (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) You can in theory logout and back in at any time...and it's easier at the moment when you are all together. Remember that when you log back in you are representing someone else in the scenario (your previous incarnation disappears probably) Hopefully this won't get too confusing to track. The logging thing is meant to be an experiment OoC to allow people to play different characters and to avoid what happened in Conflict where we suddenly had no PC officers to make decisions. It has to be rationalised in IC in some way and this is meant to vaguely represent the real world... ...if anyone can see holes in my logic or can think of a better rationalisation then that'd be great (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) |

Hot Damn, I've got a 17 defense pool, and 5 ip's in that monster.
And a 17 gymnastics pool (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) isn't that scary. |

Anyway...looks like we are all here now (Mr J and Blackhat can catch up when they get a chance) so it looks like Master Sgt Sticks is in the driving seat (no pun intended) So, boss, where do you want to go? It's been suggested that you go to the bit of land north of Fox island and then swim or zodiac from there to the island. Don't worry, the mecha can get wet (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I was also prepared to give you access to a mini sub or two if that floats your boat? Lemme know and we'll get this show on the road! |

It's for everything.. because it's all based on my pilot:anthromorph skill.
swim, jump, run, gymnastics, dodge, climb, etc... it's like a rigger's wet dream. Ack, Sticks is in charge? that's horrendous. I haven't gotten a chance to really look at the map, let me see if my ISP is bliocking it, or if I need to look from home tonight. Gash, can your spirits help with us crossing the water unnoticed? some concealment and movement powers would be nice (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Okay I can see the map. I'll be honest, Sticks training tells him that the way to do this is to cross Puget Sound up near Seattle, into Bainbridge Island, then go across the bridge and down to Penrose Point state Park. Then do a water approach from the NW. What's our mission briefing? I seem to have forgotten what the goal is (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |
