Based on what Twilight was doing "looking up and screaming with her mouth wide open". I doubt she was in any condition to do anything.

Well, yeah, but she's been in paniced life-or-death situations before and regained her cool in time to do something useful.

QUOTE
Dash also caught Fluttershy with the cloud which is what makes Cloudchaser's expression golden.

I KNOW, right? Cloudchaser was all "Waitaminute, Fluttershy, you're a Pegasus! Use your damn wings! and Fluttershy was all "Oh, right. I'm a Pegasus. I have wings."

But then... This isn't the first time Fluttershy has forgotten she had wings. I swear, she probably uses them more for hugging than flying.

QUOTE
If Pinkie Pie were falling to the ground at terminal velocity, would her Pinkie Sense trigger?

Unquestionably!

Well yeah, but it just sounds cooler!

QUOTE (Irion @ Dec 18 2012, 01:12 PM) *
Only sad thing you can't summon the rest of the mane6, which you could do as a mage... But you can always take them as contacts!

That would get very expensive, since they'd all have to be Loyalty 5. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

But imagine the ritual magic they could do together! They'd also all have to have an artifact that allows them to perform ritual magic in combat time, of course.

For the attack I would suggest Stunbolts. Visual effect: Throwing glowing cakes.

Naturally!

I'm quite convinced that Pinkie Pie would have been the most likely to survive if Dash hadn't saved them.

Heheh...

Also, it occurs to me: either Rainbow Dash is going to complete Wonderbolt Academy but decline the commission, or Princess Celestia is going to order Spitfire to deny her the commission.

After all, Rainbow Dash is probably the best flyer alive, and possibly in all of history. She'd unquestionably be a superstar Wonderbolt. But more importantly than that, she's one of the Elements of Harmony, and is far more vital in that capacity than as a Wonderbolt.

How about them changelings?

They had two endings for the episode. The other was Dash quitting and not being told to return by Spitfire.

How long can she really be part of the group if she's away being part of a military unit, though? Bonds degrade, especially with a military culture, which is designed to break your emotional and social bonds with those back home and forge new ones with the members of the unit and service. That would probably be ruinous to her being the Element of Loyalty. Not to mention that most military boot camps explicitly forbid communication with the outside for like, the first month or so. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the first ending written was Spitfire stripping Lightning Dust of her leader's badge, then stripping RD of her wingman's badge and telling her that she broke the no contact rule and had to go, too.

Plus, I imagine she'd get absolutely stricken with heartsickness and missing her friends within three or four months, tops. But most importantly of all, it would take her out of the show*. Nobody wants that.

*Unless, for some reason, the others got drafted as auxiliaries. Which wouldn't be too hard for Twilight, since the Princess could theoretically tell her student to go wherever she likes, but would be pretty nasty on Ponyville. Sweet Apple Acres would suffer without its manager, the Carosel Boutique is Rarity and would have to close up doors. Some other pony would have to take up the mantle of handling the critters, though I imagine the Cakes would have only minor trouble finding a new baking apprentice. Still, I'm not sure we'd want the show to go there, though a life-in-the-army bit could be fun.

They'd all have to be a 6. RD would have to have Loyalty Infinity. No matter what Loyalty test she's required to make, she aces it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

There's something very fascinating to listen to men discuss Ponies like they would Warhammer 40k.
Also I didn't realise there was this mythos... When I grew up MLP had the complexity of a duped up carebear...

This is Pony Gen4.
It's specifically made to NOT be like that anymore.
That was the whole Plan Lauren Faust had for it.

It was supposed to not be typical children/girl TV anymore.
That it had this much of an impact OUTSIDE the target group was entirely unexpected though.

That's because when Lauren Faust grew up, MLP had the complexity and attention span of a carebear on cocaine, and was nearly as insulting to the intelligence of everyone who watched it.

That's why she swore up and down she would make better TV than that.

She made what one would call a critical success in that regard.

This is the first part of the first, two-part episode, and This is the second.

They tell the story of a young wizard, apprenticed to the sovereign monarch of the land, who discovers a doomsday prophecy that is supposed to take place on a festival that happens two days' hence. She tells her master of this, and is brushed off, with an order to go and oversee the festivities, and make some friends. When she gets there, she meets the local Bard, local Ranger, local Barbarian, local Rogue, and local Druidess, in that order. She writes against to the monarch, who again tells her to stop being silly and worry about the festival, and goes to bed in a huff. When the festival rolls around, the monarch is missing, and her evil sister, sealed in a can for a thousand years, is now back and claiming the throne.

Oh yeah, and they're all colorful cartoon ponies. But really, that's quite a good background if it were a D&D campaign.

I've actually stayed completely oblivious to it, I've been aware that it was a thing and that some people were quite obnoxious about it. But never really felt the need to check it out, part of me still had a bad taste of the old show... Seriously that thing was designed to make boys hate girls!
Generally I have a quite hard time with kawaii/cutesy, god did it take a lot of mental fortitude to finish some anime... So it really haven't attracted me at all.
I think the last thing I watched that was intended for children and enjoyed was Avatar the last airbender... Which is silly good.

It may be cutesy, but it's not bad. Trust me, I was all "Ponies? Seriously, like, My Little Pony? You're fucking kidding me, right?"

Then someone poked me and poked me until I finally watched Turnabout Storm, an Ace Attourney/Friendship is Magic crossover done in Ace Attourney set-scene style and fully voice acted, and it was Good. Then I saw the "Baked Bads" bit on the internet and I laughed, and I said "awh fuck, okay, I'll give it a try. Where do I start?" Someone pointed me to the first two episodes on YouTube and I watched them. Then I watched the next episode. And the next, and the next, and the next, and now I'm 71 pages into writing a pony fanfic of my own*.

Seriously, like I said. Try Parts one, and two of the first episode. Watch 'em in full 1080p.

*Hey, if it works for CanRay...

Yes, and in Gaelic, there's no difference.

But in English, "Clan" implies a very extended family - one where the relationships might not be so close as "family" implies. A Clan can be comprised of many smaller families, at least as I understand the word to be used in English.

Oh, and btw? CURSE YOU ALL, for finally dragging me down into Brony-dom. I used to just be a (friendly) bystander .... >:P

Nah, custom Metamagic.

Something like: add half their Magic rating (round down) to the effective Force of the spell, and half their Spellcasting skill to the Die Pool - except the ritual leader, who gets their full Die Pool. Then, every participant suffers full normal drain as if they had cast the (un-boosted) spell themselves ... and +1 drain per participant?
