The greatest thing about talking about the amish on the internet. Is that they will never know about it!

I've been told that as long as it's something they build themselves, it's okay for the amish.

Stahsteele:

*jaw-drop*

If they pull that level of a story, I will be FLOORED. That would indeed be amazing.

I'm starting to wonder if they're not aiming to wrap up after this season, with the rumors posted here about Twi becoming the new queen, and now RD has practically achieved her goal.

I've started Fallout Equestria. It's tremendously long (1600 pages. War & Peace is about 1200.) But it reads very fast. My wife found it open on my kindle and is teasing me about it (good-naturedly). At least she didn't find Project Horizons, which has way more innuendo. That could have been awkward.

QUOTE (ShadowDragon8685 @ Dec 23 2012, 05:45 PM) *
It is a Work in Progress, I admit.

Understood. And reading your comments, it sounds like you're planning on going back through the whole thing to clean stuff up.

Regarding the plotlines;
- I read through the race, and when we changed over to the Gala, I wasn't sure how the race was relevant to that story arc. The race scene seemed superfluous.
- Reading through the gala, because the conflict is 'plan a party!' I just wasn't engaged as a reader. At 60 pages, without any promise of a real challenge, I started skipping some to get to the 'good part'.

That's what I meant about trying to get to the conflict sooner. I understand your setup though (now that you've told me). The only issue there is you're asking your reader to bear with you for a long while before he gets to the meat of the story. You still do better than GRRM though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)

Regarding comments, I downloaded the story on my kindle so I can read it during non-work hours. So no comments (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) The one that caught me was early in the story, when you're talking about Twi's 'orange friend', the adjective stuck out. The fact that AJ was orange wasn't relevant to what she was doing, and it was already established for me as a reader (because I've seen the show). I'd consider either identifying her as orange when we first meet her, or just assuming the reader knows (unless it's relevant).

When you're done, put up another poke, and I'll give it another quick readthrough, hopefully actually tracking comments. Just be aware, I do editing professionally, so I can be mean.

@nezumi
yeah, several big league corps in the media business should take a good long hard look at mlp and take a slice of that . .

furthermore:
Fallout: Equestria is 1600 Pages long
War and Piece is 1200 Pages long?
You do remember that Fallout:Equestria is in Din A4 and War and Piece is in the more commonly used Din A5 for Books right? ^^

The made for e-readers(especially kindle) .pdf version of Fallout:Equestria i have is 603K words long, witch is about 20k words longer then War and Peace(not Piece Stahl (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ), infact the longest novels list in wikipedia only has 8 novels that are longer then it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/eek.gif)
Comparing like this avoids all the hassle of differend page sizes(as that .pdf is 2018 pages long)
And yeah F:E is quite a fast read, actually too fast as it was agonizing(not literally) to wait for more while it was being written.

It's still way short of the Wheel of Time series.... 4,056,130 words.

War and Pieces is a more awesome title <.<
And the fact that there are only 8 single NOVELS longer than Fallout Equestria is still mind boggling @.@

Well ofcource it is, but comparing a single novel to a series in word count is quite pointless.
But it is quite crazy the longest novel on that list(In Search of Lost Time) 3/10 length of the entire WoT series(1,2 million words)

Eh. Based on what Shadowdragon said, it sounded as though this was published in a serial format rather than a single novel. That actually makes its publication not much different than how War & Peace was initially published in a newspaper in serial format.

The longest WoT novel is 393,823 words.

I'm almost done with War and Peace. I have Les Miserables sitting on my bookshelf but it's going to have to wait for Memory of Light (January 8th!!). Of the list, I also want to read Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Atlas Shrugged.

I really enjoyed W&P. It gave me a lot of insight into the culture, and wars in general, that you just don't get with most books. But I could have done without the epilogues. They ruined Natasha and Nicholas for me as characters, and the lecturing got dull pretty quick.

Tell me how Atlas Shrugged is. It's obviously a big-name book, but I'm not sure if it's one I care to invest any brain-cycles on. (Perhaps that's a book begging for a redo as pony fiction though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) )

It's fanfiction, it was released per chapter as it got written as is quite usual.
