Did the HUB just make an ad for a KIDS SHOW based off of CRAPPY MEXICAN BEER?

Yeah, they definitely have a sense of humor. Somehow I'm not so worried about Faust moving on to other projects.

No, they made an advert for a Kid's show which has become a BREAKOUT HIT amongst ADULTS based off a massively successful memetic advertising campaign.

I mean, hell, even kids know who the Most Interesting Man in the World is. The guy who plays him says he knew that the advertisement campaign was successful when a father came up to him in a New York restaurant and said that his son had recognized him and told him that when he grew up, he wanted to be the Most Interesting Man in the World.

Do you suppose Dos Equis will sue, or laugh their asses off?

I don't think they could sue since parody is legally protected .

Something being legally protected doesn't mean they can't sue. It just means they'll lose, but only if it goes to a judge and an actual trial is held. And if they have lawyers galore, they can drag it out.

But yeah, Hasbro probably has more lawyers than Dos Equis, so I don't think they'd try that on them.

Good point,I've heard of troll lawsuits who's only purpose was to try and force the other guy to settle rather then go to court.

It's pretty simple, really; if you've got way more money and lawyers than the other guy, you can initiate legal proceedings on the thinnest, most spurious justification, just anything that has enough of a barest shred of merit to actually go to court, and drag them out, causing the other guy to rack up more legal bills than he can pay, forcing him to go bankrupt trying to defend himself in a case he'd win hands-down - if he could actually get to the end, which he can't.

You're basically using the law - that's designed to protect him - as a bludgeon against him to force him to capitulate despite the law being on his side, because he literally does not have sufficient money and resources to see the legal proceedings to the end, and if he tries he'll be utterly ruined.

You may recognize this asstarded sort of dirty trick from the playbooks of the RIAA and the Church of $cientology. Yep, they went and ruined the judicial system for all of us.

No, but it is right out of their Greatest Hits catalog.

Also: Ponies! This episode runs concurrently with the last one.

Hijinks ensue promptly. If you can tolerate excessive amounts of comedic misunderstanding, then you may find it hilarious. I had trouble watching it for all the cringing of embarrassment I was doing.

In other legal downer news, the MLP: Fighting is Magic project has been given a C&D smackdown by Hasbro.

Good to hear, unfortunately it doesn't mean Hasbro won't try something similar.

That is true. And volunteer projects don't normally have the lawyer team Amazon has.

Seven songs in this episode!

Also, anyone concerned about it appearing too rapid for what happens in the episode, read this tweet from one of the show's writers.

It was really nice to see that Pinkie Pie's antics are actually important for the well-being of Ponyville, and not just random silliness. Every bit as important as anything the other five do, really.
