One of the most valuable tools that I have and use every day at work is my multitool. It's a cheap little Leatherman, but it works very well and does what I need it to do.

So, why doesnt Shadowrun have one? I would have thought a multitool would be a perfect shadowrunner piece of gear, but I dont see one. The only thing that comes close is the Survival Knife. But beyond that...why is this arguably invaluable piece of equipment missing?

Probably because, if the Gear section included every one of those arguably-invaluable little gizmos, it would be bigger than the whole rest of the book. If you think there should be a multitool in SR, houserule it.

I think such items are so common they are not mentioned. If you buy a tool-box, one goes for free or anything like that. ^^ Besides the victorinox blade or staff are some sort of leatherman....for killing.^^

Get a survival backpack. Notice the little clause in the rulebook that says it contains additional equipment your DM might allow.

One of my characters has beaten some gangers to death with a spade once. True story.

It already exists. Among other things, it is taught to Spetsnaz.

I know that it exists IRL, I meant we should have had rules for it in Arsenal! I think there are a few pages on this topic in most contemporary military forces basic indoctrination text books - at least we had something like 3 pages (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

My entrenching tool is a very nice German model from the 1950s. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Primo condition. No rust, no wood rot, nothing. Paint isn't even chipped.

I know SR3 has a multitool, because it comes with a stim patch (worth more than the cost to buy the multitool).

There's also my survival gear:
[ Spoiler ]

No multi-tool, but I'll be damned if it's missing more than a space suit (and maybe the restricted B&E gear).
