I've come across several mentions of optical chips, even a paragraph (in Vice IIRC) singing their praises as storage mediums.
But I dont see ANYWHERE in ANY book where the cost of optical chips are given as opposed to standard datachips. Am I just missing it? |

They are data chips. Remember that all data in shadowrun(that isn't wireless) travels via fiber optics which means datachips likewise would use an optical connection.

"Datachip: For those occasions when you want to transfer data by physical means—like bringing those stolen weapon specs to Mr. Johnson, when you wouldn’t trust a Matrix transfer—optical memory chips (OMCs) can hold hundreds of gigapulses of data in a small finger-sized chip, accessible by any electronic device." - SR4A, Page 330.
The cost is 1¥ is on page 331. We have optical chips IRL right now, BTW. We call them CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray Discs. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) That's why the devices that read them are called "Optical Disc Drives". |

Disc, not chip, but sure. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Anyway, that's why they're immune to EMP, yay!

I'm not sticking my head into a microwave oven. That's why I'm not going to be flying to the US any time soon.
