So in short... Don't go to Canada? If you like your weapons & hate weapon laws... just don't leave the US. Unless you're going someplace with even looser weapon laws than us. Parts of Central/South America, Africa, & Polynesian Islands I hear are nice places to visit. My own experience is limited, but when I had to travel for work... the bodyguards I was assigned were very nice in telling me what to do in case crap hit the fan & they started shooting. |

Wait what? Bodyguards? What did you do for a living that required bodyguards?

Wait what? Bodyguards? What did you do for a living that required bodyguards? Nothing fancy. I used to work for a commodity company before I worked for the exchange, doing IT work. I had to travel overseas to the mid-east for some oil-related stuff. I was a very low priority target. I was with a group of people. Engineers. IT Staff. Lawyers. A few execs. We were a travelling group & we had some armed escorts. Same issue occurred down in South America for some pipeline stuff. I was in a group & had armed escorts. Nothing fancy. I never left my hotel & was mostly left in the presence of other IT people setting up servers, communication lines, protocols, etc. Company just wanted to make sure nothing happened. A group like ours wasn't a big target, but why take chances. We didn't rate high enough for Blackwater types, but we had a few guys with pistols and SMG's. |

Some places, it just makes sense. I know I worry about my Uncle when he's in some of the hellholes he's worked in. So far, however, the worst he had to deal with was a bug that had acid for blood. My Aunt, OTOH... Not so much luck, but still just insect problems.

My first thought is that he got to be really unlucky and met some xenomorphs, but then it begs the question of howyour Aunt was less lucky... |

Did you uncle eventually die from a machine/explosives accident? Nope, still alive. He's unf***ing a railway he originally built in South Africa right now.Wait, acid for blood? My first thought is that he got to be really unlucky and met some xenomorphs, but then it begs the question of howyour Aunt was less lucky... Yes, acid for blood, he smacked the bug on his face and it burned his hand and face, luckily, no scars. As for my Aunt, Malaria. As for Xenomorphs... Well, he's getting up there in age, he might only take out a dozen or so. |

Probably a bombardier beetle or the like, one with a noxious burning spray gland as a defense.
Crushing one would probably crush the gland as well releasing the irritant. -k |

Possibly. Who knows what is out there, except for the local natives. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif)
Hm, have to work on my Xenomorph plans a bit more, I think. Shotguns for when I have a "Close Encounter" are actually not suggestible in close quarters. Maybe the new Colonial Marines game from Gearbox will help with ideas. |

Maybe the new Colonial Marines game from Gearbox will help with ideas. In the Aliens movie, Hicks uses a shotgun in CQW vs a alien. The damage/blood spray hits some other folks & hurts them bad. If you wanna rethink your xenomorph strategy, just re watch Aliens over & over until you know it by heart. Actually, as i think about it... the roto drone with a smg would be useful in that flick. |

I know the sentry guns from the director's cut that I saw on cable TV awhile back certainly would. And I said "Shotguns Bad" in my comment, although slugs might be an idea for longer range, but I'd likely have to go with something physically short and automatic (I can't sight down a longarm properly.).

Yeah, the sentry guns would be awesome. Better if you outfitted them is a smart pilot program to watch your flanks as you moved/swept hallways & rooms. Deer slug rounds would be awesomely great for longer range shooting/accuracy. You are correct about using a short automatic for the hallways. What about the KRISS Super V??? |

More importantly, they better not be spending 300 grand on non-people 'during this economy'. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Nah, probably just some corp, funded by gov't subsidies in the first place, but all profits go to the corp.
Looks like PopSci is just now catching up to us: http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2...d-carry-weapons Note: "paid for with a Department of Homeland Security grant" |
