Putting my life long equestrian helmet on. I'd love to find someone that would permit a Shire stallion to impregnate their Shetland mare. The general rule is that the larger of the breeds to be bred is to be the mare but fence jumpers happen. Here's a Belgian that jumped a fence and found a Shetland mare. As you can see, the resulting horse is very clearly pony sized rather than Belgian sized.

I found this ancient report on Shires crossing with Shetlands. It was pretty fascinating. In the end, in horses, foal size is determined by the mare's uterus size rather than the genetics of the father and mother. You will get a resulting body type that will be more "Stocky" in the case of a draft cross (thicker limbs and overall body shape and size) but the resulting height and size is going to be closer to that of the dam (Mother/Mare) rather than the sire (Father/Stallion).

The issue here is two fold, generally draft horses tend to have better temperaments than smaller horses. Quite frankly, ponies are assholes. Given the choice between having a pregnant Shire and a pregnant Shetland, 99% of horse people are going to choose the Shire. I don't want to deal with a pissy Shetland mare for 11 months. Couldn't pay me enough, mares are already nasty enough during their cycle, there's just about nothing you could do have me care for a pregnant pony.

The other issue is that you really don't have a point in breeding a draft and a pony. The resulting horse is going to be nearly identical to a Gypsy Cob/Vanner horse which are already all the rage (ZOMG ITS A PRINCESS HORSE MY DREAMS HAVE COME TRUE!!!!!!ONE!111ELEVENTY, I'm not a fan) or a Welsh Section D. Draft horses and ponies have very different jobs, breeding them together would result in a stocky riding horse, essentially a Welsh D or a small draft, essentially a Gypsy Cob.

ETA: There is vanity breeding which could be a reason to cross these breeds but it's generally not well tolerated. About 5 years ago there was a breeder peddling "Miniature Clydesdales" that caused a lot of controversy. Thankfully in the equine industry that type of thing isn't very popular.

But the point is, the study shows that Shetland mares were artificially inseminated, which isn't a big deal, it's very much the norm in the horse industry (Aside from Thoroughbreds which require live breeding) and that the resulting foal would be regulated in size based on the mare's size.

That said, it's not something that is regularly done, a quick search on my sites and poking my friends could only find the Belgian/Shetland cross but I haven't given it much digging, it's Sunday morning and I've only had one cup of coffee. I've certainly never seen one in person, in my lifetime though.

Yeah, it's pretty similar. Miniature horses can be very kind but not all are. Those are fairly consistently classified as horses rather than ponies though. Ponies? Ponies are terrible. I have gory horror stories but that's for another time when stomachs are settled and there's booze involved.

To be fair, we started the fighting. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) My mother got to swim with them, with a pod that's apparently been mingling with humans for time immemorial. Apparently the native kids would go out to them with food back when (At least, that's what the guide said.). It's certainly been popular for over a century at least, they're free range, and they were all friendly with her.

Monkeys are bad too. I worked at the NC zoo when I was younger. We once had a monkey get out. They cleared the zoo and passed out shotguns. Monkeys move like greased priests and they go STRAIGHT for the face/eyes/penis... and they have strength many times what most people attribute to them. A 30 pound monkey can take down most full grown men.

I think SR4A mentions that yes, humans goblinized into Orks do retain human life expectancy.

I can't remember where but there is a blurb stating (to the effect) that whatever race you are born as determines your lifespan, not what race you goblinize into.

So a Human that turns into a an Ork or Troll retains the Human lifespan while any brothers/sisters that were born as an Ork or Troll have those metatypes' lifespans instead.
