Has anyone purchased any of the older SR edition products and used DriveThru's print option?
For example, you can buy ShadowTech as a PDF, and get a printed copy as well (for usually the same price, at least right now). Just wondering how the quality is. |

I bought Missions off of it, it's pretty good. The cover is extra glossy to the point of blinding at some angles, and the interior pictures vary in quality due to the scans. There's nothing wrong with it, it's worth it for picking up obscure books and the binding is solid, it just looks a little cheap.

I'm sure it's better than any binding or printing I could be arsed to do personally. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Does that mean the watermarked PDFs are not searchable? |

That's what I had thought, so the 'quality due to the scan' statement had me a little confused.

That's what I had thought, so the 'quality due to the scan' statement had me a little confused. Some of the images look good on PDF, but when printed the resolution gets a little weird, that's what is being talked about. New PDFs are based on the original work, while older books have to be OCR (Optical Character Recognition) scanned and proofed, which takes a lot more time and work, but also makes them searchable as well.If the words are only saved on the PDF as an image (Just scanned in, no OCR), then it's not searchable. |

Yes I know how PDFs work (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
But I did kinda skip over the whole 'interior images' phrase (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |
