My new blood magic page is up. A resource for players of both Earthdawn and Shadowrun, it lists every form of blood magic, gives a short history in both ages, and has a list of every blood charm, as well as lists of all thread items and spells that use blood magic. Enjoy, tell me if I missed anything.

i thought it was canon--from Worlds Without End--that Thais taught Howling Coyote the blood magic rituals. i know for sure that he at least taught the injuns how to do the GGD back when the US was still winning the west by killing as many tribes as they could lay rifle sights on.
also, what is Cacodemon Debt Default Syndrome? my guess'd be that this is an ironic way of saying "demons ate him". |

Thais did teach the original injuns how to do the GGD. But we don't know who taught Howling Coyote.
Cacodemon Debt Default Syndrome is a mental block wherein you can't use your powers because you didn't complete your deal with the spirit/deity/demon/sacred cactus, whatever. Probably self-induced. |

Damn... I wish I could have the time and money required to get the books, read them, analyse them, cross-compare them like that.

So, do y'all think the ED blood magic material would be useful to SR GMs? |

ED magic always makes very good metaplots for a campaign. I like the idea of the Blood Elves... translated into SR, I was thinking that the PCs could meet this IE that has rose thorns stuck all over his face, kinda like in the Hellraiser movies. At first the PCs would be certain he's a villain, but then you introduce the idea that he's trying to use blood magic in a good way, to fight of the Horrors. I don't believe in revealing such high-level secrets to players, though, so you give them just enough cryptic references and such... Anyway, all that to say that ED blood magic is relevent to SR IMO.

Ah, good old Blood Magic. Slap me up with a Desperate Blow tattoo, some Living Crystal armour and those oh-so-useful Death Cheat charms.
Depatternisation anyone? :D PS> IMHO most of the 2nd ED Earthdawn (Living Room Games) blood charms are a result of OTT enthusiastic, munkinite-gargling developers. However, they did good with the depatterning rules. Some of my players are a lot more cautious about slapping on charms - and one or two really wish they hadn't been tattooed with them now. :vegm: |

Minor point of contention. While Harlequin might have helped(a great deal) to seal the bridge point at Haleakala(in Nigel Findley's novel, House of the Sun) it was actually Dirk Montgomery who interrupted the ritual, thus enabling the guardian spirits of the area to demolish the bridge.

Nitpick on minor detail: It was a gateway in Hawai'i, not a bridge.
