Indeed, that too. 'Shadowrun in ambiguous RAW shocker' (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sarcastic.gif) Do it, do it! Upload for us all to see (and totally yoink for our campaigns...) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rotate.gif) Robin Blood is the last character i got to play. Troll, Bow. 16STR. SR3. Has as his Back-Up-"Weapon" a Netgun. Basically, he climbs/runs/jumps parcours over the rooftops and snipes from there. Or shoots with the Net-Gun and hauls in what he hits. Yes, it's a Ganger-Campaign . . |

For me, it's all about how cheesy it is, how disruptively the player uses that cheese, and how they actually explain it. A true munchkin has an utterly ridiculous background that they barely define and never refer to, and they use their enormous dice pool as a cudgel against any attempt by the GM to provide plot or challenge in the game. As a result, other players get no chances to shine, and the GM is frustrated. I used to react to this by attempting to out-cheese them, but I've grown lazy/wise with age, so now I just ask the player to not be a dick. An ork barrens ninja could imply a lot: an old Japanese man with a past he never talks about, keeping his head down and living among the orks of Redmond as a hermit. He finds a wiry young ork, bullied by his larger peers. He offers the boy the tools to gain revenge on his tormentors. The boy learns quickly, he grows in skill, he lays his childhood tormentors low, then realizes how childish his aims had been. He looks out of the ghetto he was raised in, and sees a world of opportunity opened up by his new skillset, but he never forgets the old man. Then, one day, the old man comes to see him. It's been years, and the boy, now a man, sees a glint in the old man's eyes that wasn't there before. He has come to collect a favor owed to him by the boy; a debt of honor. He slides an old piece of smartpaper across the table; it bears the image of a Japanese man of similar age to himself. He asks the boy for that he once gave him: revenge. That, I think, would be well worth any ork-ninja cheese a player could come up with. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Absolutely. That's sounds like the framework of a fine backstory. |

thing about a troll bow (or any bow for a str 8 char) is going to be huge. It's like carting a sniper rifle around (in every sense, but even quieter). Very conspicuous. I suppose you can have it in broken down version (again ,like a sniper rifle) but then you're hardly using it spur of the moment. Also there is an adept power that blocks arrows isn't there? Not so for bullets. Still trollbow style chars will punch through most foes no problem.

Gotta look in some books when i get the chance, but I'm seeing someting along the lines of the bow from Blade Trinity |

I could easily see advances in materials and engineering creating standard size compound bows with 300 pound draw weights. |

Meh, do the following.
Troll Shiva Arms X2 Trollbows 1 set of arms reload while the other set shoots. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grinbig.gif) Or even better. Make the bow abnormously big and it requires two limbs to hold and two limbs to draw the bow. Shiva Archery as invented by the Nartaki. |

Plus, this is nothing new. I would in fact guess that suggestion came up in every single bow thread ever. Pretty much, yes. And there are quite a few of them, there is something about shooting stuff with a bow the size of a siege weapon (seriously,k imagine what a longbow wold look like for a troll)... |

"You're going to backstab him?" *Uh huh!* "With a fucking siege-weapon?" *UH HUH!* Just take your average strength 19 troll (metagenic improvement, exceptional attribute and genetic optimization, plus a muscle augmentation and some adept powers) and give him exotic melee weapon (school bus). |

Actually this came up because I was thinking about introducing a bow using character in a group in place of a nosferatu mysic adept because I was in a kind mood and wanted to place limitations on myself; those being: 1) No Magic, 2) No AI, 3) No Resonance, and 4) No metavariants/SURGE/ect. The bow came out because I wanted to try and make an augmented human different from the rest of the augmented gun-toters. With these tricks I figured out how to give him a definitive personality without breaking the system (too much...). |
