Well, there should still be one safe not-kill-you-on-sight species - sheep.

...

Provided they did not awakened.

A couple of possible "random encounters" in the outback for the runners to stumble across.

1) An outcast eugenically-selected superman and his followers.
2) A psychotic punk gal who lives with a troop of Awakened kangaroos and drives an ancient treaded war marchine.
3) The crocodile-mangled corpse of the trideo famous "Stingray Hunter".

That's in Freshwater and speaking of paracritters, when our SR GM still lived in Freshwater he was holed up during a cyclone when he spotted a large spider inside to escape the elements. As a genuine arachnophobe he felt compelled to shoot it with a .22 rifle, leaving a nice chip in the brick wall. We had to laugh.

As for SR in Oz, maybe it's the bleak weather but Melbourne city seems to have a good cyberpunk aesthetic, I could imagine more conventional urban 'runs there. Maybe explore corporate and underworld connections.

*shudder* I'd be soiling myself if I saw a spider that big. And then running like hell.

Australia is one of the few racist places in the awakened world. Everyone else just picks on Meta-types. If your group is coming in from overseas, hit them with that. An ethnic human taking abuse while the Anglo-saxon ork/troll gets on well with the guys at the pub.

An interesting thing to implement would be indigenous characters being uneffected by the manastorms illusionary elements, maybe as an initiate metamagic. This would tie in with the manastorms being a revenge for the brutality of white colonists and dreamtime. PC's may need to find a guide to get them out of a city or through a storm to an orchalcum mine site they are hired to hit.

Water security is more important than data security in some cases. Black market water dealers, syphoning water off a Corps mains, the corperate struggle to own the desalination plant.

RSL's are like a cross between a bar and a community centre (with an ever growing dash of casino thrown in). Not exactly a hang out but there could be a few hooks there: Policlub influence, fleesing the elderly for their pension money..

One thing I'd like someone to clarify: Isn't Sydney encircled by a permanent manastorm? If so what are the boundaries? Been thinking about using my GIS skills to make a layered map.

I gotta say, I'm not sure what to make of this one. I don't take myself too seriously and have a good sense of humor, but I have a hard time reading this any other way than as a blanket statement that my people suck. I can't help but feel a little offended.

Heavily cybered attack kangaroos designed to hop in quickly for close combat delivering crippling kicks and fearsome punches all the while with a minigun turret mounted in the frontal pouch.

What are they called?

So you don't have any Ambidextrous Physads? 18 dice before pool out of chargen, and that's without weapon foci!

I'll have to dig up T:AL for a reread.

So one specifc build for pile o dice mania is the same as normal build being pile o dice?

In SR1-3 most people rolled 6 dice without their pool. Going from 6 to 15-20 is a big shift.

But your people do suck. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Actually everyone I met in France was fairly nice. I didn't get any of the fabled rudeness. Well when in Germany a French guy was pissed at me because I didn't speak French, but that is hardly an indictment on a people. And there are a lot of things in France I wish we had in America like a non-asinine FDA, or whatever the French agency is that makes sure people aren’t getting poisoned by food is. Every country/culture gets its share of insults and any of the larger more well-known countries will get more of them.

By the time I ported over to SR4, my Troll Melee Adept was throwing 18 Dice before Pools in Melee Combat.
Several hundred Karma, though.

Most of my starting characters Pre-SR4 were between 6-8 Dice Combatants starting out.

You can get some rolls up higher in char gen.
Specifically with adepts and increased skill ability.
but also some perception rolls and athletics by cyberware and bioware.
and high level skill-wires+expert driver can help too.
i smuggled a troll by my GM that has 17 skills with 8-11 dice in char gen with skillwires actually.
not very high single pool but higher than usual for several rolls.
