Just in case Shadowrun Returns was not enough goodness for you, something new from the guys who made The Witcher 1+2: http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/05/30/cd-proje...g-is-cyberpunk/

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one. With the amount of depth and complexity in the Witcher series, I have high hopes that CD Project Red can put out a great cyberpunk game. Even better than Deus Ex: Human Revolution and definitely better than that steaming pile of Syndicate.

I'm surprised they are bothering with a PC version, you'd think they'd have learned their lesson. I suppose it's cheap for them as their dev team is more familiar with PC programming. Still, I have to wonder if it's not just out of habit or something. Seems to make dubious business sense.

Hopefully not a bad shooter like Syndicate . .
If it's a GOOD shooter, i'll be content with it. .

No, it just requires some thought occasionally so not all console games (looking at you, Xbox) do well on the PC. Rightly so, I'm sick of dumbed down controls when developers are lazy sacks when it comes to porting.

CD Project Red are PC developers first, consoles second, so that shouldn't be an issue. The Witcher 2 was their first game on console, ported/customized/optimized after the PC version was done and released.

I wasn't a fan of the games, but I would definately agree they were not console ports.

And that's the only way it should ever be done . .

I'm a console gamer myself, but I honestly don't care what the lead platform is, as long as the time and care is taken to properly optimize/customize the ports to each individual system.

I concur. Nothing is more angering than a terrible console port to PC.

Game that won't work on any system on release and no patches to fix it for a week?

And a bland design.
And bad controls that practically force you to play with a game pad or hate it . .
And no customization whatsoever in graphics or anything else . .

Probably because the license was cheap. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Maybe they are fans of the game, too.

Heh, who knows. I ran into a j2me game based on the setting once. Played like a Flashback clone (thanks to the keypad controls i never got past the second corporate cyborg you run into).

I have my doubts about this. I don't really care for the Witcher games; they play too much like a hack-n-slash and not enough like an RPG (which the games are advertised as). If they can get out of what they've done with Witcher (I didn't care at all for the main character, too emotionless, so-so voice acting on everyone) then maybe, maybe it'll be good. I'll be cautiously optimistic about this.

You've got to be kidding me. The Witcher is about as RPG as it gets nowadays. What contemporary popular franchise is more RPG-like? Maybe Final Fantasy, in the sense that everyone is to some extent still taking turns in combat?

I mean, unless you're going to say that Jagged Alliance: Back In Action is moreso an RPG than The Witcher, because turns.

Please tell me you're shitting me. It's got a conversation/role-playing system better than pretty damn much any game these days, Mass Effect included, and even if you "fail" a quest (so, you had to talk to a guy named Coleman? And you allowed the elven guerrillas to pick up their weapon shipment before? Whoops.), there's always some way to keep the storyline going.
Turn-based combat? Stats? It's not what makes a RPG.

Fallout3/NewVegas maybe?

Yeah, New Vegas is a decent RPG. I can't say a bad thing about Alpha Protocol (Obsidian's spy-fi game) either.
