I know I read about tabletop forge and also mentioned it in a forum.
I'm looking forward to using it myself.

I played with the Tabletop Forge app last night for a while in Hangouts. It is pretty slick, lots of functionality, and I barely scratched the surface. Integrated dice roller, drop any image file of your map onto the screen and it'll put the gridlines up for you. In fact, you can create "tokens" for your map board to represent character positions for combat or what have you. Apparently it also has its own chat system which you can use to send PMs at the virtual table to other players/the GM and even an emote system of some sort (I didn't play with those so much since it was a hangout of one while I tested it. Should have named the hangout Forever Alone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nyahnyah.gif) )

I did the same as you; spent time alone in the hangout w/ Tabletop forge. So far I enjoy the functionality.
I'm looking at eventually seeing how it handles one of my small groups.

Our first session will either be this Saturday, or next. There are still some administration concerns and finalizing of characters to be had. If folks are really interested, and the first session goes well enough, I might setup future sessions to stream to YouTube (and if folks want to start following the campaign, I may even open a few resources related to the game to the public). People could observe if they wanted. Either way, I'll for sure post a thread discussing how it went and hopefully my players will add their own thoughts as well.

Over the weekend we did a meet 'n greet and test of the Tabletop Forge app for Hangouts. If you're interested in details I'd check the blog I've been writing (link in my signature), but to be brief: if you're going to try remote/online/virtual gaming, test the technology you're going to be using before going live!

I'm really excited for our first real session and will post more about it shortly afterward (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
