The game, the GM
This is a 3rd Edition Game. I am rules light, as storyline and character interaction are what drive the game, IMHO. I have some house rules, that I have linked at the bottom of the page. No deckers needed, and I use quick resolution for decking (see house rules, based off of rules found in Mr. Johnson's Little Black Book FanPro 25003), unless one of the other players wants to run a side mission. Deckers are NOT needed (read: not wanted). ========================================================================== The Evolution Campaign This campaign was originally a table top game for my friends, but as we moved away, I moved it to the forums. Of course, they all gradually dropped out, and now it is all dumpshock recruits. The original group ran the first leg of the campaign, and now we are about to end the second. There is a third leg, that I will run if there is any interest from any remaining members of the group. The team is based in the East Bay Area of California, because that is where my table top group was from. There is a description and information in the Player Handbook, that I will send out to interested parties. You will be joining a high level team as new recruits as they embark upon another deadly run. Remaining players/characters: Kliko/Kliko - Leader/Military mister juan/Ludi - Covert Op/Face ntwi/Felix - Shaman ========================================================================== Applicant Requirements: CharGen: 135 BP, Sum of 10, or Priority (obviously you get a bonus if using BP, from Shadowrun Companion FASA 7905) 35 Questions: I have a home brew list In Character Background: 3-5 paragraphs that will give me an idea of who you are. Doesn't have to be first person. Contact Descriptions: I need enough info to NPC these jack wagons. Please give me some detail, or they will be complete retards. I will send you the Player Handbook to all serious applicants. Players who don't post for 2-3 weeks without notifying me of their absence will be killed off. If you are going on vacation, or what have you, please let me know ahead of time. ========================================================================== Links #1 OoC Post has links to important OoC Posts, Current Links for the Run, and House Rules. It also has directions to setting your forum thread to Linear View, which makes the #1 Post at the first post of every page. If you set your forum thread to Linear View, you will have quick access to these posts, links and rules. #1 IC Post has IC Formatting Guidelines. Again, if you set your forum thread option to Linear View, this will always be at the top of every page, and the information readily accessible. Where we are now (IC Post for current mission) ========================================================================== Please post your character ideas and questions. |

So, no deckers, check.
Looks like the archetypical gun guy, sneaky/electronics (I'm assuming from the Covert Op/Face tag) and mojo are covered. What sort of roles are you guys looking to get filled now? Rigger, extra mojo backup, more meat for running point? Have a few character concepts I wouldn't mind rolling with, but I'd like something of an idea from the team on what bases they're looking to have covered. |

Quite frankly, I don't think there's something precise we are looking for. More of anything would just be good for business and survival (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) As of now, there's only the three of us, which limits our options quite nicely.
I can't speak for the others, but Ludmilla is an ex spook, which in a nutshell means lots of contacts, high etiquette, lots of stealth and close quarter combat skills and B&E skills. |

Kliko is the ex-merc guy (his wife was complaining about his extended tours away from home. Besides... he has kids now. A whole spawn of kids).
He is very much a generalist (soldiering is not only about shooting straight) and can cover a number of roles (Leadership, Bargaining, Demolitions, First aid, Survival, Electronic overwatch, Heavy-hitting backup) within the team. He prefers strong team tactics with some added brawn here and there over individual (combat) skills. We can really use a good rigger (we have some contacts who can fullfill the role if required) or extra meat for running point (either street sams or weapon specialists). |

And Felix is the mojo of the team. He leans towards utility spells and spirit support, although he can still sling some serious mojo if he has too. He also functions as the band-aid if nasty little holes start appearing in team members. He can still do a decent job of sneaking, shooting and speaking and plays utility infielder with his spirits.
Like Kliko said, either a rigger or additional meat would be nice, anything to stop the bullets before they hit me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) |

As you can all see, althought every character of the team has a speciality, everyone overlaps quite a bit (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) So, to future members of the team, don't worry TOO much about grabbing skills someone else has.

The team is already well rounded, so build what you really, really want to play. They will advance and you can build upon that character greatly. When you have the base idea and you are ready, send me a PM with your email, and I will email you the 35 questions and character building guidelines. Don't worry about being underpowered. Read my House Rules for Karma (in OoC #1 Post). Use it often. |

Hmm, really like the idea of playing a rigger, but going through my library I realized I only have the SR3 basic book and the cyberware book, heh. So...suppose some sort of street sammy with some basic driving skills is going to be the order of the day. Gonna sit down and start playing with NSRCG and see what I can do. PM sent to you Bastard.

Hey! Who said you were part of the Merry Band (which is now the name of our team)! No fair.
Unless that's a dash and not a minus sign, indicating all the karma rewards to come. |

It was a dash, but now that I have been put in my place and excluded from the Merry Band, just because I am trying to murder them with a multitude of NPCs, I have changed it to a minus.

I'd be interested. I haven't played SR3 in a good while, but I can catch up.
I haven't played a Street Sam in a long time. Although depending on my whim, I might end up with a physad Street Sam. |

So, my current thought is for a Troll Beater named Bear.
Primarily a brawler - big, tough, melee focused. Probably some sort of large gun as well, as a nod to practicality. Lots of cyberwear, probably some bioware as well. His dream was always to be a bear shaman, but that didn't work out for him, so he's chased his dream in other ways. He's adopted the pro-earth ideals of some shaman, but for him, they translated more to "anti-city" which then translated to "maximum collateral damage and sabotage." He's good-natured and friendly most of the time, though, like his name sake, he is sometimes prone to great rages. |

Felix eyes the new guys carefully. "Here, I think this is the only color we have in your size for the team T-Shirts" as he hands out red shirts to the new guys. "Gimme a week or so and I'll get you the color of your choice."

Okay, the 35 questions, combined with a reading of the cyberwear, has shifted Bear to Drake. Possibly a minotaur, possibly still a Troll. Still a melee beast. And thanks for the shift, Felix - mine seems to have a couple holes in it, though. |

Both humans. Felix can patch holes fairly well, but it's easier with more flesh and less metal. Heck, he can even patch the holes in the shirt too.

I would just like to point out that our characters are a lot more professional than us. A LOT.

Got my mitts on some old books a friend or three had laying around, so operation rigger is go. Writing him up and building as we speak, looks like a humie with some...fun toys. Figure the atypical Citymaster as his rolling command post, couple of drones, few more vehicles for...fun. Wanting to try and build him as able to, y'know, help out in meat space, but at this point (with that damned VCR3) I don't think it'll be too possible for him to be anything outside a skillmonkey/craftsguy/rigger. C'est la vie.

Depends on what/how you run your rigger I guess, I've almost always ended up with the VCR2 for the reduced essence cost. An alphaware VCR2 is less than 1/2 the cost and essence for most of the benefit (in most situations... of course a VCR3 rigger will always be able to outdrive a VCR2 all else being equal). You can do alot with 2.6 points of essence... Your style of rigger is your style though.

Hey, Bastard, I'm going to re-apply, and this time I really REALLY mean it when I say I'll stay around (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . Let me know if I need to rewrite anything, or if you need a new questionaire, or whatnot. Heck, if you don't want to see Knuckle Duster again, there is an old art thief I have been thinking of dusting off.

I will search if I have an electronic copy to send you, but I dont think I do. |
